CITY OF ARDEN HILLS,MINNESOTA
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
TUESDAY,MARCH 16, 1999
Commission Meeting 6:15 P.M.
Arden Manor Residents Meeting 7:00 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Don Messerly called the meeting to order at 6:25 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present were Don Messerly, Megan Ricke, Lynette Kreidler, Dorothy McClung, Jim Johnson,
Rich Straumann, Lou Speggen, Brian Fritsinger, Lois Rem and Tracy Petersen.
Absent was Anita Larson.
2. APPROVE MINUTES
Minutes from February 23, 1999 were approved by Megan Ricke and seconded by Lynette
Kreidler. The minutes were passed unanimously.
3. COUNCIL REPORT
• Community Services Fund- Councilmember Rem indicated that,because uses for
charitable gambling funds had changed, the City Council is beginning to discuss how
monies in the Community Services Fund will be used in the future.
• Tony Schmidt Park Update -Ms. Rem noted that the park would be closed April 20,
1999. Phase I of the project is expected to be completed by mid-August. The boat
launch/ramp will continue to remain open during construction.
• Parks & Recreation Director Interviews -Mr. Fritsinger indicated that six qualified
candidates had been interviewed for the position. The top two candidates were given
second interviews and an offer has been tendered to the top candidate. He is expected to
start on April 5, 1999.
4. ARDEN MANOR RESIDENT MEETING AGENDA
Mr. Fritsinger reviewed the process for the neighborhood meeting. He will give a brief overview
of the concept plan for improvements to the park and then will open the meeting up for
questions/comments from the residents in attendance.
5. OTHER BUSINESS
• Flower Planting is scheduled for May 22. If you are interested in assisting, please call
City Hall at (651) 633-5676.
. Ramsey County Clean-Up Day is scheduled for April 24.
• Tracy Petersen informed the Commission that she has accepted a position with the City
of Chanhassen. Her last day of employment at Arden Hills will be Friday, April 2, 1999.
6. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made to adjourn the Parks And Recreation meeting at 7:00 p.m. The motion
passed unanimously. Resident meeting to follow.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 27, 1999.
