Page 1 of 1 CONSENT ITEM – 2A MEMORANDUM DATE: December 17, 2018 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers Dave Perrault, City Administrator FROM: Julie Hanson, City Clerk SUBJECT: 2019 Tobacco License Renewals Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: $ $ $ Council Should Consider the Following Options Approving the 2019 tobacco license renewals as listed below. Background The following businesses have requested renewal of their City tobacco licenses for 2019: • Arden Hills Shell (Brausen) • Arden Hills Tobacco • Cub Foods • Holiday Station • Walgreens Each of these establishments has successfully passed a background check conducted by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. Per Lake Johanna Fire Department Fire Marshal Kris Rewald, fire inspections are in the process of being conducted with no issues to date that would warrant withholding approval of all licenses. He does not anticipate any issues with the remaining businesses. This license is brand new beginning in 2019 and is not a renewal, so does not appear on the above list. DATE: December 17, 2018 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator SUBJECT: Authorization to Appoint Public Works Maintenance Worker Position Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: N/A N/A N/A Council Should Consider The Council should consider appointing Mitchell Gebauer to the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker at Step Three in the Union Contract pay scale, all other benefits will begin at “Year 0”. Background The City of Arden Hills currently has a vacancy for a Public Works Maintenance Worker position in the Public Works Department. Following a recruitment for the position, Mitchell Gebauer has been identified as the best applicant, and staff is requesting that the City Council officially approve his appointment. This is a union position and falls under the collective bargaining agreement and the City’s personnel policy. Attachment N/A CONSENT ITEM –2C MEMORANDUM DATE: December 17, 2018 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator SUBJECT: Motion to Appoint Brian Holmes as the 2019-2020 Chair of the Joint Development Authority Budgeted Amount: Estimated Amount: Funding Source: N/A N/A N/A Council Should Consider The Council should consider appointing Brian Holmes as the Chair of the Joint Development Authority (JDA) for the 2019-2020 term. Background The City of Arden Hills and Ramsey County entered into the Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) in 2012 for the redevelopment of the former Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP). Per the JPA, the City is to appoint the Chair of the JDA. The City Council held interviews on December 11, four candidates were interviewed. Following the interviews, staff was asked to bring forward Brian Holmes for a formal vote. If selected, Mr. Holmes will serve as the Chair of the JDA for the 2019-2020 term.
