The Council should consider providing further direction on making the Customer Service
Specialist position a job -share position.
Background
This item was brought forward to the March 25, 2019 regular City Council meeting, the item was
pulled from the consent calendar and tabled to the April 15, 2019 work session for discussion.

SUBJECT: Authorize Staff to Post for a Part -Time Customer Service Specialist

Council Should Consider
Council should consider authorizing staff to post for a part-time Customer Service Specialist.
Backl4round
Staff and the Personnel Committee have discussed shifting the Customer Service Specialist
position to a job -share position, the current Customer Service Specialist is supportive of this
change. Any changes or later approvals would be conditioned on finding a candidate for this
role.
Anticipated process:
-Council approves authorization to post
-Staff advertises job opening
-Staff reviews applications, interviews candidates, and selects a finalist
-Staff will add their recommendation to the consent calendar at a future meeting
This position will not be brought forward to the Personnel Committee or City Council for future
consideration except for final approval at a City Council meeting.
