Background/Discussion Generally, members of the City Council are required by State Statute to certify the results of the Municipal Election to the Ramsey County Auditor within three (3) to ten (10) days after the general election. This year, however, due to the consent decree that extended the deadline regarding mail ballots received through the mail up to seven (7) days following Election Day, canvassing the results must occur no later than Friday, November 13. Attached is a copy of Resolution 2020-059 certifying the results of the November 3, 2020 election. Please note that the abstract certifying the 2020 municipal election results will be provided as a bench handout on Thursday, November 12, 2020. The following are results from the 2020 election: •Brenda Holden as Arden Hills City Councilmember for a four-year term beginning in January 2021; and. •Dave McClung as Arden Hills City Councilmember for a four-year term beginning in January 2021. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 2020-059 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE 2020 MUNICIPAL ELECTION CANVASS RESULTS WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills held its General Election on November 3, 2020; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 205.185, Subd. 3 and 205.065, Subd. 5, require that the City Council canvass the results of the election within three (3) to ten (10) days after the election; and WHEREAS, due to the consent decree regarding mail ballots received through the mail up to seven (7) days following Election Day, canvassing for the 2020 election must occur no later than November 13, 2020; and WHEREAS, the City Council met on November 12, 2020, as a canvassing board to review the results of the election. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota, that voting for the office of City Council, where there were two seats to be elected for that of Councilmembers, each for a four-year term, at the November 3, 2020, General Election, held in and for said City, has been in all respects, duly canvassed by this City Council in accordance with the law. It is hereby found and determined that the total votes cast upon the offices for each candidates at said election were as follows: COUNCILMEMBER (4-year term) # Votes Brenda Holden 2862 Dave McClung 2582 Bobby Goldman 2058 Write In Votes 74 BE IT RESOLVED, that as a result of said canvass, Brenda Holden and Dave McClung be declared elected City Councilmembers for four-year terms commencing at the first meeting in January 2021.
