RESOLUTION NO. 2021-067
RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS,on December 1,2021, City Councilmember Dave McClung passed away; and
WHEREAS,under Minn. Stat. § 351.02 an elected office becomes vacant on the death of
an incumbent; and
WHEREAS,more than two years remain on Councilmember McClung's unexpired term;
and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 412.02 subd. 2a,the Arden Hills City Council is
required to fill the vacancy on the City Council by appointment until the qualification of a successor
elected at a special election to fill the unexpired portion of the term held on or before the next
regular City election.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arden
Hills:
1. A vacancy is declared to exist on the City Council created by the death of
Councilmember McClung.
2. Pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 412.02 subd. 2a,the Council will appoint a person to fill the
vacancy until the qualification of a successor elected at a special election to fill the
unexpired portion of the term held on or before the next regular City election.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS THIS
6TH DAY OF DECEMBER 2021.
