ARMY RESERVE CENTER (HWY 96 & LEXINGTON CLASSROOM) CALL TO ORDER Chair Megan Ricke called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m. ROLL CALL Members present were: Chair Megan Ricke, Louis Speggen, Lynette Kreidler, Dorothy McClung, Mary Robinson, Cindy Walsh, Parks & Recreation Director; and Tracy Petersen, Program Supervisor. Jim Theurer, Ramsey County was present. • APPROVE MINUTES Minutes recorded by Mary Robinson. The June 28 minutes were approved by Lynette Kreidler seconded by Dorothy McClung. AGENDA ITEMS RAMSEY COUNTY PARKS & OPEN SPACE VISION PRESENTATION Jim Theurer gave the presentation. This group layouts out the responsibilities & duties in the different groups within the Country\Cities. Jim is looking for verification of the mission statements for Parks & Open Space. After receiving surveys & feedback from Committees they will put together information for the different groups & then work toward the next step of the Committee. The County Manager's office is directing this project. This process will take place every 10 to 20 years and then only as need to be amended. Other areas that Ramsey County is looking at include: Surface Water, Human Services, Utilities, Health& Welfare • 1996 BUDGET UPDATE • Money has been budgeted from the general fund for the sealcoating of the Hazelnut trail & resurfacing of Cummings& Ingerson Park court areas. 1996 Park Fund Budget $40,000 trails & $3,000 for gateway flowers. The budget process is going on. Cindy informed the Committee she has met with Park & Recreation Director from Mounds View, New Brighton & Shoreview. Discussed park\regional facility plus Arden Hills park for TCAAP. Walsh, Parks & Recreation Director �Vv SUBJECT: Agenda Topic Report Trail Maps I will bring color coded copies of our working trail plan to the meeting. Each Committee member will receive a copy, however, it is not in final form and will not be distributed to the public. Boulevard Tree Planting I have enclosed a copy of the existing City Ordinance relating to the planting of boulevard trees as well as a letter from a resident requesting that the City plant boulevard trees. The City Council asked the Parks and Recreation Committee to review the ordinance and recommend future policy options with regard to boulevard tree planting. • Tony Schmidt Park The Committee has asked that I invite Greg Mack, Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Director, to attend our September meeting. I have also invited County Commissioner, Dick Wedell, and Mark Nolan, the Parks and Recreation Commission Chairperson. The Committee should organize their thoughts to present to representatives from Ramsey County on September 26, 1995. Perry Park The Perry Park construction is on schedule and progressing rapidly. The contractor hopes to have the project finished in the fall. I will update you in more detail at the meeting. A $500 contribution was received from Scherer Brothers Lumber Company. A thank you letter will be available for Committee members to sign. Valentine Park The contractor working on County Road F blocked the storm water drainage area in the park the weekend of August 11-13. There was 2-3 feet of water in the park on Sunday evening the 13th. There was some damage to the warming shelter that is being repaired. The contractor will be billed for this damage.
