Set up a sub-committee to look at a Comprehensive Plan. • B. Trail from T.H. 96 through McClung's new development - a 1996 funding priority. C. MINUTES CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 1995 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. ARMY RESERVE CENTER (HWY 96 & LEXINGTON CLASSROOM) CALL TO ORDER Chair Megan Rieke called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Members present were: Chair Megan Rieke, Louis Speggen, Anita Larson, Lynette Kreidler, Dorothy McClung, Mary Robinson, Susan Keim, Council Liaison; Cindy Walsh, Parks & Recreation Director; and Tracy Petersen, Program Supervisor . Also present Don Messerly. Absent was Maureen Bodene, also Fran Holmes was unable to attend the meeting. • APPROVE MINUTES Minutes recorded by Mary Robinson. The minutes were approved, unanimously. AGENDA ITEMS Minutes Megan reviewed Committee minutes dating back to 1985 to look at actions and survey results regarding Perry Park usage and improvements needed. Lynette brought to the attention of the Committee about an organization who is attempting to develop a baseball team\league for kids over 15\16; however, there are not enough fields already to facilitate the existing programs. Louis also brought up his concerns about the reactions previously mentioned. He lives in the area and has previously played on those fields. Many teams over the years have left our softball leagues because of current park conditions. Something has to be done to improve these conditions. Dorothy has two concerns: l. What is the Committee for?; Committee has been and should be to focus • on these types of improvements and recommend solutions. Resurfacing Proiects There is a meeting on Monday, April 3 for this project. Proposal passed 5-0 to approve to go forward with Perry Park Specs and bids. Megan discussed a conversation with local reporters regarding the project and reaction of the Council and other City committees support. TRACY PETERSEN'S REPORT Tracy provided a quick update on Spring programs and discussed the summer brochure. STAFF REPORT Cindy is planning to apply for additional state funding for the trail behind City Hall. Cooperative Trail Grant Program through the MN DNR. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. We need to set a meeting date for trail neighbors in June - Committee needs to do on-site of trail (Beginning of May Meeting).
