PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 1995
7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
ARMY RESERVE CENTER
(HWY 96 & LEXINGTON CLASSROOM)
CALL TO ORDER
Chair Megan Ricke called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present were Chair Megan Ricke, Maureen Bodene, Louis Speggen, Anita Larson,
Lynette Kreidler, Susan Kelm, Council Liaison; Cindy Walsh, Parks & Recreation
Director; and Tracy Petersen, Program Supervisor . Also present was Mary Robinson.
Absent was Dorothy McClung.
• OATH OF OFFICE
APPROVE MINUTES
Minutes recorded by Mary Robinson. The Minutes were approved unanimously. Motion
by Lynette Kreidler, seconded by Mary Robinson to approve minutes.
APPOINT A VICE CHAIR AND A SECRETARY
Anita Larson was appointed Vice Chair and Mary Robinson was appointed Secretary,
with help during tax season. They will be rotating positions on an annual basis.
COUNCIL REPORT
Susan Kelm is the Committee Liaison and Susan informed us that a new City
Administrator has been hired.

PARK FUND STATUS
The council reviewed the redevelopment of Perry Park confirming the commitment to
spend up to $200,000. Also reviewed was the background history of committees and the
funds, and how the Park Fund money was spent in past years.
PARK DEDICATION
a. Cottage Villas $19,600
b. Ukrainian Orthodox Church $7,290
C. John McClung - land for trail connection.
d. Group Health etc...$5,150.00.
C. Future dedications Townhouses on County Rd. E2.
CHARLES PERRY PARK REDEVELOPMENT
Review of Perry Park proposal and the background around the project. The committee
discussed the proposal and potential contacts to add to list. The committee will divide up
• the list of contacts at the February meeting.
TRAIL DISCUSSION
It was requested to have a copy of regional trail plans and an update on the City of Arden
Hills trails. The next priority trail is the segment from City Hall south through John
Millongs 4th Addition.
Lynette Kreidler suggested putting directional signs on the unpaved trails for people who
get lost at Crepeau Park. These signs would be similar to the ones posted on the paved
trail areas throughout the city.
MISCELLANEOUS
a. Gardens
There was discussion on gardens and the concepts. The committee will discuss and
recommend which garden to update in 1995 at the February meeting.
b. Valentine Park
The improvements at Valentine Park have been completed. The warming shelter is in use.

• e. Program Report
Tracy Petersen handed out the report and it was reviewed and discussed. Participation
numbers are up from 1993 to 1994.
d. Sale of park property
There were some concerns discussed on the sale of the park property. This will still be
investigated. The committee wants to recommend its sale if the City Attorney deems it
possible.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m. The date of the next Park & Recreation
Committee meeting will be February 28, 1995, at 7:00 p.m.
