In both communities the trails were - • - 8 feet In width - Blacktop surtace - Used b / young and old in neighborhood as method of traveling within the neighborhood. - Trail was used by bath bikers and wa i kors. Observaticis : B omquist and Buckley were both Impressed with the appearance and fuiction the trails provided the communities. The Police Department of both communities were questioned about the vandalism and theft problem •- moth stated that trail did not increase crime in the neighborhood . The trails did provids a safe method for individuals to travel within the neighborhood . There gas no sign of Insecurity by private property owners no fen :es, hedges, keep-oft signs , along the trail . Both cammunities stated that trail systems were more readily rocelvad by adjacent property owners if trail systems are con- structad before homes :are huiit . T. Glaros moved , seconded by J . Moore, that the Parks and Recrea- tion Committee support the original trail location running North and South of Indian Oaks Trail and india4 teaks Court along the western border. Motion carried unanimously. • Bussard Development A. Anderson reported that Committee members A. Anderson , B.. Sch iot9 haver, D. Kosti shack, C. Grudnaske , J . Gebhard , Parks Director Buckley and Councilman Crichton did bulk over the Bussard • Property and the site of the proposed park, south of Round Lake. The comprehensive plan states that approximately an eight acre park site would be needed for their neighborhood . The Committee recommended that proposed Outiot A and Outlot B not be accep -ed as park dedication from Mr. Bussard . The Committee recommends that the Planning Commission and Council seek to obtain approximately two acres of the embackment and high ground bordering the east side of the ponding area. The Committee agreed that - - ail the water area from highway 694 to Round Lake be within the park site. - the flat open area west of the pond be obtained for future active play area . - proposed Bussard dedication be secured for a buffer between park and neighborhood . The Committee realizes that the desired area would be more than the eight acres stated in the comprehensive plan , but the addi - tional acreage is needed to provide active and pass "ve areas. The park would serve as a natural buffer between residential and industriai property. • Submitted by J .
