Minutes of Regular Meeting of Parks and Recreation Committee
Village of Arden Hills
Tuesday , June 14 , 1977

Call to Order
The meeting Was called to order at 8: 15 p .m. by Chairperson
Biomquist.
Roll Cal
Present : M. Blomquist, R. Curtis, S. Hustings , J . Moore ,
R. O'Toole, B. Schlotthauer
Absent : T . Giaros , C. Grudnoske , M. Weitzman , R. Lemke
Also Present : Councilman Crichton , Parks Director J . Buckley

Approval of Minutes
It was moved by R. O 'Toole, seconded by J . Moore, that the
minutes of May 10 be approved as mailed. Motion carried
unanimously .
Planning Commission and Council Report
• Councilman Crichton reported that agreement had been reached
with Karth Lake Estates on number of acres to be dedicated to
park funds , but not the price as yet . Negotiations are proceed-
ing with the other proposed development on Karth Lake and with
the Janet Estate developers .
Council had approved hiring of some temporary summer employees ,
and a replacement for Mark Peterson , who has resigned.
Bike Trail - Pathway around BanCon Development
This sub-committee presented its report to the Committee . They
felt the land BanCon proposes dedicating to be adequate . J .
Moore moved that the Committee accept the sub-committee ' s report ,
and recommend to Council that the $ 15 ,000 worth of work to be
donated by Ban Con be utilized as soon as possible , concentrating
on the problem areas on the path . Motion was seconded by
R. Curtis , carried unanimously . The path runs extrem31y close
to homes at one point; Committee feels it very important that
the path be put in before the homes are built.
Finance Sub-Committee Report
A recommended budget must be to C. McNlesh by August 5 . The
sub-committee will paring a proposed budget to the July meeting
• for review by the Committee .
C_ ommunity Education Meeting '
• Chairperson Btomquist reported that she, T . GIaros and C .
Grudnoske had attended this dinner. She felt there was great
vas l ue in communication with tt,e School District to coordinate
programs and plans .
8uesinq Property
Clarence Rexslsen , agent for the Buesings , attended the meeting
to discuss dividing the property into three different parcels
for development . He proposed dedicating the State easement (75
feet wide ) along the edge for pathway , and Arden Hills buying
Lot F , at the bottom of the property , for access to the pathway ,
for $ 12 ,000 .
After considerable discussion , the Committee recommended the
dedicetlon of 50 feet on the State easement , and a pathway at
the top of Lot F approximately 25 feet wide .
Adjournment
it was moved by J . Moore, seconded by R. O'Toole , that the meet-
ing be adjourned at 10 :20 p .m.
