Minutes of Regular Parks and Recreation Committee meeting
Village of Arden Hills
Tuesday April 8, 1975 8: 00 P.M.
Village Hall
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 8 :25 p .m . by Chairman Anderson .
Roll Call
Present : Chairman Anderson , G. Beggin , M. Blomquist , K. Boss ,
R. Cadweii , M. Cronin , M. Erickson , C. Grudnoske
P. Lindquist and J . McTavish
Absent : N . McIntosh and G. McCauley
Also Present : Councilman Woodburn , Councilman Wingert and
J . Buckley Parks and Recreation Director.
Approval of Minutes
The Minutes of March II , 1975 and March 25 , 1975 were approved as
mailed .
Ramsey Count�Open Space_
• Mr. Hinseth presented Ramsey County Open Space proposed acquisition
and proposed use of land for the Round Lake area .
K. Boss made a motion, seconded by C. Grudnoske, that the Committee
hold a public hearing to give the neighborhood ar. opportunity to
discuss the proposed purchase of Round Lako and use of the site .
Motion carried unanimously .
Motion was made by K. Boss, seconded by C. Grudnoske that the
Committee reccmmands that all property owners ad '
acent to Round
Laka be inforned of the public hearing by mail . Motion carried
unanimously .
Councilman Crichton said hE) would have the Village office staff
provide a list of owners to whom Betters sliouid be mailed .
A motion was nade by G. Beggin , seconded by M. Erickson that the.
date for the neeting be May I , 1975 , 8 : 00 p .m. at the Village Hall .

B. Hinseth said a representative from Ramsay County Open Space
would be present on May i, and make a presentation

• In the absence of B. Bauer, Councilman Crichton reported on Baue:r's
presentation to the Council .
Councilman Cri �:hton reported on the March 31st Council meeting .
Planning Commission Report
J . McTavish reviewed Planning Commission minutes .
The park area in Arden Manor would be an easement and not a perma-
nent dedication . To ersure the quality of construction for the park
J . Buckley will prepare specs for recreation areas . it was recom-
mended that bo;ids be posted to guarantee construction .
J . McTavish re-:ommended that ordinance 98 , 175 and ! 47 be reviewed .
5 Yr. Site Dev3lopment Committee
On the agenda for the next special meeting of Parks and Recreation,
April 22 , the )arks to be discussed will be as follows :

3. Lake Johanna Fast-Freeway Park-M. Blomquist, M. Erikson

Lexington Avenie improvement
A motion was made by P. Lindquist, seconded by J . M,_-Tavish that
because of pot3ntial environmental damage and physical disturbance,
Parks and Recr Sat i on Committee recomnnends than?' the w 3st side of
Lexington not )e widened or distrurbed . Motion car- ied .
Summer Proc_ram
J . Buckley asked if Committee felt the summer program should be
continued . G. Beggin asked for a detailed report of prior years
programs . J . 3uckley said he would prepare an eval :ation of past
participation in the summer program.
Tree Purchase
Deferred to April 22nd meeting. Committee members should bring lists
to next meetin ) .
