HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-24-1989 PTRC Meeting Minutes 0 f �� CITY OF ARDEN HILLS PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES, OCTOBER 24, 1989 Call to Order The regular meeting of the Arden Hills Park and Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:31 P.M. by Chairman David Sand. Roll Call Present: Chairman David Sand, Dorothy McClung, Don Messerly, Tom Mulcahy. Absent Keith Enrooth, 44ark -Pete Mary Gillies, Alan Montgomery, and Pattie Green. Also Present Councilmember Tom Mahowald and Parks Director John Buckley. MINUTE APPROVAL Minutes of the September 26 meeting were approved as mailed. COUNCIL REPORT Councilmember Mahowald reported: - Arden Hills entered into a purchase agreement with Kem Milling for their property in the Round Lake district. Price was $385,000. The City will be responsible for cleaning up the property and removing the building. - Arden Hills has entered an agreement with Shoreview to sell sewer and water service to the Arsenal for the Army Reserve Training Center. - Mahowald and Buckle reviewed Cook' s Continental Development proposed • y P P P park dedication. Mulcahy moved, seconded by Sand, that Parks Committee recommend the Council secure a cash dedication from Cook. Motion carried. PARK DEVELOPMENT PLAN/ The Committee reviewed the 10 year Park Develop- PEDESTRIAN TRAILS ment Plan and the pedestrian trail blacktopping DEVELOPMENT study. Committee members decided to continue the development study at the November meeting. PARK SURVEYS The Committee reviewed the Community Park Surveys - 1985 Arden Hills survey - New Brighton community survey - Shoreview community survey - Shakopee Park survey No action was taken. MISC. BUSINESS Mahowald reminded the Committee that the Council is seeking volunteers to serve on the new City Hall Committee. Park Committee members are encouraged to contact Mahowald if interested in serving. The Parks Committee has several positions open (Jim Otto and Jim Mishek . have moved out of the City) . Members are asked to give names of possible new members to Mahowald or Buckley. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. These monies can only be expended for park land acquisition, park and trail development and salaries related to park development. Account 530 "Improvements Other Than Buildings" increased significantly in 1990 due to the proposed Arsenal Athletic Complex. The ten year Park Development Plan prescrited r-o the Council serves as the guide for the development of parks ana trails. Presently all acquisition and development costs are charged to this fund.
