The new office is located at 1200 County Road East. On Wednesday, September 21st, City Councilmembers Fran Holmes, Brenda Holden, David Radziej, and Mayor David Grant visited Royal’s new office to learn more about the company and take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Community Development Updates The Official City Newsletter for Arden Hills Residents October 2022 Boston Scientific wins Manufacturer of the Year Award On Wednesday, September 27, 2022, Mayor Grant presented members of Boston Scientific Arden Hills with the Manufacturers Alliance award for Manufacturer of the Year in the large company category. Since 1990, the Manufacturers Alliance has provided manufacturers with practical peer-to-peer training, education, and resources in the State of Minnesota. Award winners are selected based on peer recognition and demonstration of sharing continuous improvement experiences that contribute to the strength of the local manufacturing community. Educational seminars, facility tours open to community members and peer organizations, public best-practices articles, sponsorship of peer mentoring programs, and more factors are also considered. The Manufacturers Alliance differentiates itself from other associations by relying on collaborations with a wide variety of valued resources rather than government, academia, or consulting for financial support. Since its inception, the Alliance has enrolled entire companies instead of individuals, with the goal of affecting the whole enterprise. Ramsey County residents looking to get rid of laptops, televisions, cell phones or other electronics (e-waste) now have a free and easy way to recycle them. Ramsey County Environmental Health is partnering with Repowered so that residents can dispose of and recycle unwanted electronics at no cost. Recycling e-waste keeps toxic metals out of the environment. All data from electronics dropped off at the e-waste site will be destroyed physically or electronically wiped. September 26, 2022 November 8 General Election Early voting is underway. The options are to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you, or you can apply for an absentee ballot and vote in person at either the Ramsey County Elections office located at 90 Plato Blvd in St. Paul or at the Ramsey County Library located at 2180 Hamline Avenue in Roseville. Want to skip the extra step of applying for an absentee ballot at various Ramsey County locations? Tuesday, November 1 through Monday, November 7 you will not have to complete a ballot application and instead will be given a ballot to place directly into the voting machine yourself. For more information about these options, including locations and hours of operation, please visit ramseycounty.us/residents/elections-voting/voters/vote- election-day. Those voting on election day must do so at their local polling place on November 8. The polls open at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm on Election Day. Follow these best practices as the season changes: 1. Clear out debris – Survey all your plant beds and remove fallen foliage, leaves, and weeds. This will remove possible nesting spots for harmful critters. 2. Trim and prune – Get out your trimming saw and shears and trim and prune away! Hire a professional if any limbs are too high or daunting to tackle. The City licenses tree contractors and has a list at cityofardenhills.org/411 3. Dig and plant – Add some color and variety to your yard by planting fall annuals, shrubs, or spring bulbs. 4. Rake and mulch – If left unattended, fallen leaves can quickly smother your lawn. Instead rake your leaves, shred them if you have a shredder, and use them as mulch around young trees and planting beds. You could also gather them up and bring them to a yard waste site. 5. Fertilize a final time – Before your lawn takes a winter snooze, give it the nutrition it will need in the spring to come back healthy, green, and vibrant with fertilizer. 6. Seed and re-seed – Fall can be a great time to seed or over- seed your lawn. To optimize the life of your seeds, get the grass seed down soon enough to germinate, water it well, and protect it from hungry critters. 7. Reduce and trim – Gradually reduce your lawn mower height between now and your final cut of the season, as shorter grass in the fall helps ensure a healthier lawn in the spring. 8. Compost your pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns – Pumpkins cannot be thrown away in the trash. However, your old Halloween pumpkin can still be beneficial to your yard and garden. After removing decorations from the pumpkins, the pumpkins can be placed in the compost or broken down and spread around the garden to improve the soil. They also can be disposed of at a yard waste site.
