RESOLUTION RELATING TO RAMSEY COUNTY ICE RINKS
Resolution No. 11-~3
WHEREAS,
The first completed indoor ice arena is located on
Highway 96, East of Lexington in Shoreview; and whereas
The Prime intent of the Ramsey County rinks, authorized
by the 1969-70 Legislature is to provide the maximum
amount of ice at a minimum cost to all residents of
Ramsey County on a non-discriminatory basis: and whereas
There is a dire need for indoor ice facilities in all
of Ramsey County and in the north central suburban
area In particular: and whereas
The Shorey I ew rink though sma II er will take some of the
burden off the Rosevi lie rink; and whereas
Rosevi I Ie has not been able to satisfy the ice time
requirements for anyone except residents of Rosevl I Ie;
and whereas
The Roseville rink is a self supporting facility and charge
$40.00 per hour; and whereas
The Rosevi I Ie rink is much more elaborate than the Ramsey
County rinks; and whereas
The Ramsey County rinks are more economical to operate,
self sustaining and not a money making business; and
whereas
Organized teams do not receive free ice time at Aldrich
or any other Ramsey County rink: and whereas
Aldrich Arena is rented at $40.00 per hour.
THEREFORE,LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT,
Any faci I ity erected that will provide wholesome, off-street
recreation for the youth of Ramsey County must be used to
the ful lest extent at a minimum cost to the participants:
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT,
These Ramsey County rinks were constructed through the combined
efforts of the residents of Ramsey County and Senator Ashbach,
Representative Bell and Anderson,and Commissioner Salverda:
The Vi Ilage Counci I and the Parks and Recreation Department
of the Vi Ilage of Arden Hi lis go on record as fully support-
ing these men for the effort they have put forth to obtain
the new rink in Shoreview and encourage them to continue
their work by keeping the ice rental costs to a minimum and
thereby serve all residents of Ramsey County regardlesS of race,
creed, color or economic standing. .
