Arden Hills Special Council Meeting 2 January 3, 1994 MOTION: Hicks moved, seconded by Malone to approve and ratify the City appointments as outlined in the Administrator's report dated December 30, 1993, including professional consultants and inspectors. Huebsch Ink, Kate Huebsch Madden & Associates Pam Galanter Focus Official Newspaper APPOINTMENT OF ACTING MAYOR FOR 1994 MOTION: Mayor Sather explained that past practice has been to rotate the duty of Acting Mayor each year. As Councilmember Probst was appointed to the council in 1993, Mayor Sather recommends approval of Councilmember Probst as Acting Mayor for 1994. Malone moved, seconded by Hicks to appoint Councilmember Dennis Probst as Acting Mayor for 1994. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL COMMITTEE LIAISONS FOR 1994 Mayor Sather commented that a great number of the committee members have been involved with the same committee for many years, and perhaps it would be more beneficial in approaching these members and suggesting they serve on a different committee. . . .e I . I I I I Ie I I I I I I I .- I Arden Hills Special Council Meeting 3 January 3, 1994 Mayor Sather further stated he has no definite suggestions at this time, and perhaps the Council could discuss further at the January 20 worksession. Mayor Sather stated he is certain there would be new enthusiasm and energy with some positive changes. He further commented that these committee members might not be utilizing their talents to the best of their ability in their current committee. Councilmember Aplikowski commented that various committees will be meeting in January before the worksession and the timing is off to suggest changes at this time. Councilmember Probst commented that Council is not dictating which committee a member should serve on, however, members should take a proactive approach to view all aspects of the city. Mayor Sather recommended that liaison appointments to various City committees and commissions, as well as, committee appointments, should remain the same as in 1993 until a further review is conducted. MOTJ:ON: Malone moved, seconded by Hicks, to approve and ratify that all Council Committee Liaisons, Chairpersons and Representatives for 1994 remain the same as in 1993. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). ADMINISTRATOR COMMENTS Administrator Person informed the Council that the warming houses are open, and outlined the hours of operations and conditions in which the warming houses would close. She further noted that the League of Minnesota cities conference is scheduled for March 12 - 15, 1994. ADJOURN MOTION: Probst moved, seconded by Hicks, to adjourn the meeting at 5:20 p.m. Motion carried unanimously (5-0).
