WHEREAS. Ordilllilnce No. 10 01 the Vlllage of Arden Hills. effective
Ju4r 7. 1955. relates to the use by Northern states PolIer COIIlJl81\Y of the
streets in Arden Hills for the purpose of installing. enlarging. operating.
repairing and maintaining Il8cessary gas pipes and appurtenanoes. and
liIEREAS. Section 1 of said Ordinance provides. among other things.
that such installation. enlargement. operation. repllir and maintenance
by Northern States Power CompaI\Y shall be subject to such reasonable re-
gulations as may be imposed by the Village CQUDCil. and
1rIIEREAS. the Village of Arden Hills has recently commenced an extensiw
street improvement prGgram in various areas of the Village. which improve-
DIllnts have Il8cessitated substantial expenditures for the installation of
permanent-type streets in the Village, and
1ifIEREAS. in the opinion of the Council BJllY gas mains to be installed
by Northern States Power CompaI\Y in the fut.ure should be installed on the
boulevard and :!2!: beIlB8th the street surfaces, and SIl1'Vice connections
which will Il8cessarily cross streets in the Village should be tunneled.

NOli nmREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the provisions
with Section 1 of Ordinance No. 10 hereinbefore referred to Northern States
Power Compa~ shall be required to locate aI\Y future gas mains in the
Village of Arden Hills on the boulevards rather than in the traveled portion
of the street, and service connections which must aacessarily be p'laced
across streets shall be tunneled, Jacked 01' bored beneath the streets to
eliminate or mininiIze the necessity of repairing the street surface.
BE IT FUR'lHER RESOLVED. that such work as Northern States Power Compan;y
may propose to do in the Village upon or affecting streets in the Village
shall first be re:f'erred to the Village Engiaaer for recommendation to the
