All councilmen were present at the roll oall.

of Maok seconded by DeLaI\ge.

By motion of Maok seconded by McC1UDg thElV were approved tbr paorment.
The clerk read the County Andi tor's letter of August 14. l~.5l remi tUng
for tax oollections from March 1, 1~51 to ~ 31, 1~51, as the May settlement,
in the total amount of $4466.~4.
He also read two ohecks received fl:oom the State Treasurer as follows:
For liqu.or tax apportionment,48l1' per capita, Jan.-June, 19.51, $43~.68; and for
oigarette tax apportionment, 4.5l1' per capita. for ihe same period, $412.20.
He also his Financial Statement for August showing total receipts for
the month $34l~.82. expenditures $96.03 ezolusive of olaims Nos. 27 and 43. leaving
a balance of $4.54~.74. including July 30 balance of $1225.~.5; total reoeipE for the
year &mOtUlt to $.5,343.46, total expenditures excluding claims 27 '" 43, $7~3.72.
He also reported that the 1951 tax levy hae to be certified to the
County Joudi tor by October lOth, and tlat the Finam e Committee will meet probably
the week before the next re€l4lar council meeting to oonsider the budget; all
standing cammi. ttee ohairmen were asked to submit iheir departmental requirements
for 1952 before that committee meeting.

Mr. Donald O. Carley. on behalf of his father, SI1bmitted two copiee of
the final plat of "Zilliox A.ddi tion" for approval; the said plats !lOW show wet
areas as requ.ired; in this Qonneotion Village Attorney Maok turned over to the clerk
/ a photostat of ihe unsigned final plat, also a certificate dated Aug. 6. 1951 by
the St. Paul Abetract '" !atll! Gtlarantee Company oerti~iDg lI'illiam Zilliox. also
known as lI'illiam J. Zilliox, as the last reoord owner of the platted traot, no
mortgages of: record; by jotion of Mack seconded by Delange the plat was given final
approval by a vote of 4 for, 1 abstaining.

ASSOCiation offering to meet with the counc:il to discuss platting problems; later

CIVIL DEFENSE: Commander Hunt reported that en.oueP- people are lined
up in case of . Ilecessi 1;y, that the work is getting organized, hard to maintain
interest because of talk: of peace, and vacations, a skeld;on force is organized,
and that organizing will be pushed after September 1st; Mayor Cummings read a
letter from Sheriff Gibbons; ColllllllUl6r Hunt will SQbmit a list of civil defense
officere to the clerk for village identification cards; ba is especially anxious
to have a geol womn for Red Cross work. He also reported that Father lIilCarthy
offered the Village the facilities of Nazarsth Hall in case of emergency.
FIRE PROT.EX::'fION: Mack: reported on meetings with Spring Lake Park and
Li tUe Canada Fire Departments, and wi th tile Ros eville Village Council; :Rose-
ville wants $50.00 per month standby oharge to cover estimated depreciation of
lqa.ipment and overhead, plus $2.00 per man-holll' or any fraction from barn to
rewn thereto. pm gas and oil, and share of cost of hose breakages, etc.

Mayor Cummings reported the State Highway Department offioials have
recei ved many phone Illld letter complaints Ilbout the handling of traffic viols.-
tions in Arden Hills; he scheduled a meeting of the council, justices of the peace,
constab1ee and Vic Weber with Slch officials on '.l'a.es~, September 4. at 8 P .:M.
in the Town Hall.. the clerk to send out notices.

Attorney tel write the Attorney General for an opinion thereon.
Pl1l!LIC lIELFARE: Chairman J(cC1UDg had no report, bl1t Mack reported that
Mr. SChifsk;y, the owner of the Mounds View ohmp site, will ask Arden Hills $50
per ammm rent.
