Tb.is meeting was called by phone notice to all oouncilmen at the call
of Mayor Cummings, for the purpose of making a decision on fire protection con-
trac ts.
. The meeting \IElS Called to order at about 8:05 P.M. by Y""3or Cummings.
All members ware present at the roll call.
The minutes of the adjourned meeting held October 2nd were approved as
read by the clerk.
~or Cummings rsad a letter dated October lOth from the Lake Johanna
Voluntser Fire Department, also one dated October 12 from the Spring Lake Park
Volunteer Fire Department, in which each proposes to fUrnish firs protection to
the village for $500.00 for the period ending December 31, 1951, and for $1000.00
for the ysar 1952, contracts to be entered into before October 20th, 1951. The
clerk then read a draft of a proposed fire protection contract prepared by the
village attorney to bs entered into with each department, and aleo read copy of
the contract proposed by the Spring Lake Park Voluntssr Fire Department at the
A.pril joint meeting of the Public Safety Committee with ths two fire departments;
thereafter the clerk introduced am read a draft of a proposed resolution to
~thorize the mayor and clerk to sign fire protection contracts, which after re-
vision by the council, reads as follows, and by motion of DeLangs seconded by
McClung was paseed unanimoualy:
-Resolution"
"RESOLVED that the mayor and clerk are hereby authorized to enter into
contract or con tracts with the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department and
the Spring Laks Park Volunteer Fire Department to ~rnish fire protection to
the entire village on the following terms:
"1. For $300.00 to each of said departments for the term ending
December 31, 1951, payable in two installments, the first of which shall be
in ths amount of $230.90 payable at time of exscution of the contract and de-
li very thereof, and the balancs on December 31, 1951; thereafter at the rate
of $100.00 per calendar year to each department, paya@le in semi-annual in-
stallments, the contract to continue in force until terminated by either
party g1 ving the other thir ty (30) days' witten notice of lmch intention
. prior to expiration.
"2. Each department shall at its OWll expense obtain and maintain
in force policies of public liability and workmen's compensation insurance
covering said fire protection activities.
"3. The respective contracts shall contain SQch clauses to protect
the village's interest as may be agreed upon by the vi llage council with the
said departments, and the contracts shall bs unifonn.

"4. A. copy of the proposed contract shall be furnished to each de-
partment with a copy of this resolution, and each department shall furnish
the village with a certified copy of the proper resolution of its board of
dirsctors authorizing the same, and a copy of the oontraot to bs furnished
the Fire Underwriters Inspeotion !nreau.-
The clerk is to send a copy of the said resolution togsther with a copy
. of the proposed oontract and check for $230.90 as first payment to each fire de-
partment with request to col!lllllUlicate their acoeptance or II1lggestions.
!he clerk reported Sam Ceresits inquiry as to whethsr or not his li-
censes oan be transferred to a proposed lesses named Floyd W. Bahr, living at 471
l31'oadway, wi th placs of business at 299 E. 7th Street. The matter was referrsd
to the village attorney for investigation of the proposed transfer.ets qualifica-
tions . Ceresi and Bahr expect to appear at the Oct. 29th council meeting.
Mayor Cummings gave the village attor.ney a printed copy of the basement
home ordiD/l.l'Jl.le reoently passed by the Supervisors of the Town of Mounds View for
the purpose of preparing a similar ordinance for submission to the council.
lis also asked the Village attorney to draw up an ordinance cov:ering
street specifications as submitted in connectiin with the Zilliox plat for use in
the approval of future plats.
The clerk mbmitted a resolution eagu.e of Minnesota Mnnici-
pali ties but this was not acted upon.
By motion of Mack seconded by ting adjour~d at 11:07 P.M.
