l!INlJTES OF THE BEGUUR MEETING OF illE COUNCIL OF TEE
VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILIS, MIlruESOTA,
Held at. the Town Hall, Monday, November 26, 19.51
In the abseroe 01' Mayor Cummings the meeting was called to order by
Acting Mayor McClung.
. At '!he roll call McClung, DeLange and Doepmr were present, Cummings
and:Mack absent; there being a legal quorum the council proceeded with transaction
of bu.sine s s as follow s;
~e mimtes of the October 29th regular meeting were approved as read
by the 41erk.
HEPOR TS OF S~NDI:NG COli:MIT'l!EES:
Finame: Chairman Doepner brought up the question of' Ulether or not the
license fees will be unchanged for 19.52. After a brief discussion it W'lS thought
advisable to bring it up at the next meeting of the council.
Public Safety: In the absence of Chainnan Mac\<:, Acting MaJror McClung
reported that '!he Mayor advised him that the LakE Johanna Volunteer Fire Dept. has
decided to iJl along wi1h the Spring Lake Park Fire Dept..s acceptance of our pro-
posal, Le., $300.00 for the period of Hay 1 to Dec. 31, 19.51, and $800.00 for the
calendar year 19.52, the latter to be payable $400 in January and $400 in July, to
each department. Jl'ecause the said proposed contracts termimte December 31, 19.52,
and negotiations for a 19.53 contract will have to be taken up as early as July or
1l.ugu.st for tax levy certification by October 10th, the Clerk proposed that we ap-
proach both departments at this time with an offer of $1000.00 to each department fOI!'
19.53, but on motion of DeLange this was tabled.
Public Works: Chat rman DeLange reported on certain road me tters.
Delange mcved and Dlepner seconded a motion, which was carried, to have a
"DEAD E1W' sign put up at the NW corner of Edgewater and Ridgewood in Arden Hills
NO.3 Addition.
il:1e Clerk reported that Mrs. Goble of 3170 N. Hamline Ave. asked to have
the council consider having certain mailboxes of resi dents of Arden Hills l~o. 3
Addition chaneed to eno1her location because of being bothered by deliverymen asking
her for directions, but the council felt it does not have jurisdiction.
Delange moved am Doepner seconded a motion to author ize the County Sur-
. veyor to perform the followi ng wo 7'k:
(e) Renove snow and sand when necessary all village streets; ~uring the 19.51-
19.52 winter season.
(b) Gravel Ridgewood Road from approximately .500 ft. south of Edgewater
Street nor th to end of street.
(c) Gravel Edgewater St. approximately .500 ft. west of Ridgewood Road.
(d) Gravel and blade Valentine Court.
(e) Gravel GlenardenRoad frcm GlenardenCourt approximately 1000 ft. north.

In the absence of Bu.ilding Inspector Hurlbert the Clerk reported that in
a phone c,,11 the fercer told him that Er. Richardson of La~'e Jc',€p:line was contacted
on removal of rubbish. l:r. Richardson tala. llim thut i.l,j_col1sis:s entirely of tin
cans now imbedded in frozen ground and cOl1~ains no garbage and therefore asked that
. i~s removel be deferred to spring, which Vias agreed to by tOle council.

Ramsey County Planning Commi S3 ion: Delange reported that he was not
noti~ of November meeting, ani the Clerk reported there has been no reply to our
leU joining the Commission.
REPORTS GF OFFICERS:
ilie Clerk reported that the financial statellEnt will be published in .ran.-
uary instead of November because he was advised by the Public Examiner'S office that
the law has been chaIloaed so that the calendar yea:r is the fiscal year of the village.
The treasurer reported that the villaGe is in a strong financial pondition
and that he will have a written report at the next reguLr meeting.

By motion 01: Doepner seconded by Delange the following Resolution was
passed:
"Resolution
"BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Arden Hills
. that said village consti tute one election district and that the polling place
shall be the l.{ounds View '!'ownshipTown Hall, located on S.T.H. #96, West 01:
Hemline Avenue and :East of Snelling Avenue.
".A. I;]) BE IT l!UR'iJlER RESOLVED That notice Il.ereof be posted by the Village
Clerk for 60 days."
By motion of Doepner seconded by DeLa adjourned to
