COU]\!CIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, April 27, 1953
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 P.M. by Mayor Cummings,
.
Roll Call: All Council members present. There being a quorum
present, the Council proceeded ','i th transactions of business as
follows: -
The minutes of the council meeting of Monday, March 30, 1953
were read by the clerk. Hack moved and DeLange seconded a motion
the minutes be approved as read - carried.
11r. C. J. Klidon appeared before the council to request pe~miss-
ion to keep a house trailer on his property. Permission had
been granted until May 1,1953 and an extension of time was
necessary accorcliuf, to Mr. Klidon. 'Mack mode'[l motion that the
time limit be extended 60 days. Mr, Courtney, Village Attorney,
gave his opinion that 90 days notice would be required to
evict the tenants now occupying the trailer. Mack amended his
motion to 90days, at the end of which time the trailer is to be
removed from the village. McClung seconded the motion - carried.
Mr. Milner W. Carley submitted the preliminary platt of the
Ingerson property on the North Shore of Lake Josephine. Mack
moved the preliminary plat be accepted as presented. DeLange
seconded the motion - carried.
The Justice of the Peace, otto Graffunder submitted his report
for the month of April.
The ordinance on possession of malt liquors by minors was read
by the clerk. Mack moved the suspension of the second reading
of the ordinance and the acceptance of the ordinance by the
council as read. DeLange seconded - carried
Claims #261 - #269 inclusive were read by the clerk. Mack moved
and DeLange seconded a motion that the claims be approved -
carried.

Reports of Standing Committees:
Finance - No report.
Public Safety - Police Officer Salitros submitted police reports
as used by Mounds View and New Brighton and requested that some
be printed for the Village of Arden Hills. McClung moved and Mack
seconded a motion that Officer Salitros be authorized to have

1000 each of the 5 reports printed - carried.
Chairman McClung is to look into the matter of a curfew for the
village.

Justice of the Peace ~raffunder requested a new permanent docket.
DeLange moved and Mack seconded a motion that Mr. Graffunder be
authorized to purchase one.
Public Works - Chairman DeLange reported that the Village had
gone over its County road allotment. At the last committee
meeting the specifications on stabilization were dra~~ up. Oil-
ing is not included.
The servicing amendment to the ordinance on'the platting of
property was read.
Mack moved and DeLange seconded a motion that the load limit
siens be removed as of April 27, 1953 - carried.
AdditionJgrading is necessary on Arden Place and Glenarden Road.
Mack moved and DeLange seconded a motion that }~ilner Carley be
employed by the village as surveyor on the job - carried.
Ludlow moved anet McClung seconded a motion that amendment 5 (n)
be accepted and incorporated into the ordinance relating to the
platting of property as it is to be published - carried.
Considerable patching work needs to be done on the roads. Mc-
Clung moved and Ludlow seconded a motion that Ch.DeLange be
authorized to have the County make the necessary repairs -carried.
McClung moved and Mack seconded a motion that Ch. DeLange be
authorized to do grading and shaping on Arden Place and Glen-
arden Road according to specifications as prepared by the village
engineer for the project - carried.

Mc Clung moved and DeLange seconded a motion that the Road Commiss-
ioner call for bids for oiling the roads (by the gal.) in a
published notice. The Comm. is to prepare specifications for the
dust coating, the Village Attorney is to prepare bid forms and
the Clerk is to advertise for bids. The motion carried.
Public Welfare - no report.
The license application of C.A. Puett was read by the clerk.
Mack moved and DeLange seconded a motion the licenses be granted
subject to revocation - carried.

Village Attorney - No report.
Treasurer - No report.
. The BUilding Inspector reported on sewage problems within the
village. The cases were referred to the Health Corom.
A letter from Ben Leighton of the School Board relative to
future building plans and taxation within the school district
was read.
DeLange moved and Mack seconded amotion the meeting be adjourn-
ed - carried. The meeting adjourned at 11:lOP.M.
