HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 05-25-1953 118 MIJIlUTES OF' REGULAR MEETING COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF' ARDEN HILLS . Monday, May 25, 1953 The meeting was called to order at 8:01. P.M. by Mayor CUImnings. Roll Call: All Council members present. There being a quorum present, the Council proceeded with transactions of business as follows: The minutes of the council meeting of Monday, April 27, 1953 were read by the clerk. Mack moved and McClung seconded a motion the minutes be approved as read - carried. Claims #270 - #280 inclusive were read by the clerk. Mack moved and McClung seconded a motion that Claim #277 to the Schelen Electric be disapproved until it isfu:rther checked and that all other claims be approved - carried. - - - Wx. Ervin A. Peterson and Mr. John Kaplan appeared before the CoUncil requesting licenses to operate the Hillside Taver~, ovmed by Mr. Sam Ciresi, who vouched for the reliability of the above mentioned men. A license for dancing was also requested. After discussion, they were advised to fill in an application and character reference;-,and - return same to the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee, Mr. McClung. They were also advised that there would be a special meeting of the Council Monday, June 15th at g:~Q P.M. at which time they could again appear. Mr. P.L. Phi1sticker of 11.31 Arden Place asked the Council if there were an ordinance covering the storinp; of equipment on residential property. He was advised that unless the equip- ment could be classified as heavy industrial, no zoning law or ordinance is in existance covering same. Reports of Standing Committees: Finance - No report. Public Safety - Ch. McClung presented a curfew ordinance. After discussion it was decicled that the Village Attorney should study it. . An ordinance to prevent damage by fire was submitted by Ch. McClung. After discussion it was decided that the ordinance be redrawn. The Police Officers requested that a petty cash fund be set up for the Police Dept. McClung asked the Village Attorney to supply a copy of the Mounds View boating ordinance. . Ch. McClung reported that the investigation of C.A. Puett was favorable. Public Works ~ Ch. DeLange asked for approval for two road signs warning drivers to watch out for children. Cummings moved and Ludlow seconded a motion that the two signs be set out - carried. A letter from Mr. Carley relative to proposed repairs on three roads was read. A letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities was read regarding the convention to be held at Vi~ginia, Minnesota. No suggestions were offered by council members. Public Welfare ~ No report. Village Attorney - No report. Mack moved and LUdlow seconded a motion that 2 gal. of 2 - 4 D be purchased for noxious weed eradication - carried.
