MIl'TUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
COUNCIL OF TIm VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, June 29, 1953
The meeting WAS called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Mayor Cummings.

Roll Call: All Council members present. There being a quorum
present, the Council proceeded with transactions of b~siness as
folloVls:
The minutes of the council meetinl': of Monday, May, 25, 1952 were ^,'
read by the clerk. Mack moved and DeLange seconded a motion the
minutes be approved as read - carried.
The minutes of the special council meetin~ of Monday, June 15, 1953
were read by the clerk. Mack moved and De Lange seconded a motion
the minutes be approved as read - carried.
Mr. Bob Bachman appeared requesting permission from the council
to set off a fireworks display on his property on the Fourth of
July. After discussion De Lange movod and Ludlow seconded a
motion that Mr; Bachman be authorized to set off a display with
Police Officer,George Salitros in attendance - carried, with
Mack abstaining.
Mr. Gust Swenson said that an easement was needed aCIJOSS Albans
to provide for proper drainage. Mack moved and De Lange seconded
8 motion that the above matter be referred to all committees. carried.
Allan Johnson, represented by his mother, requested an ex-
tension on the time granted him to live in his basement home.
After discussing the relevant facts, Mack moved and Ludlow
seconded a motion that an extension be granted to October 1st,
if signatures of three noighbors are obtained agreeing to the
extension. -carried.
Mr; George Anderson, representing Mr. Sam Ciresi, presented
Mr. Cires&'s application for a license to have dancing with
live music in a tavern he plans to open.

The resolution for the vacation of a portion of Genter Street was
read by the clerk. Mack moved and De LanGe seconded a motion the
street be vacated - carried.
Bldf:. :Inspector, Melvin Hurlbert, reported that the Colberts were
still occupying a trailer on property formerly owned by Mike
Kuchinski, after being told that it was contrary to a Village
ordinance. Ludlow moved and De Lange seconded a motion that

a warrant be sworn out against the Colberts - Mc Clung and
C11JTIJ'1ings voted afrirmatively, nack contrary - carried.

Justice of the Peace, Graf~under, suggested that a Tra~fic
Bureau be set un . The matter was referred to the Committee on
Public Safety. .
The Village Attorney reported the Curfew Ordinance adequate, but
stated that it contained no provision ~or penalizing minors.
The Council decided to readvertise ~or bids on dust coating the
roads of the Village; Copies of the notice are to be sent to
all road contractors. De Lange moved and Mc Clung seconded a
motion that a special meeting be called for 8:00 P.M. Monday,
July 13, 1953 -carried.
The Justices o~ the Peace submitted their reports.
Claims #338 & #342 - #359 inclusive were read by the clerk.
De Lange moved and Mc Clung seconded a motion that all claims
be approved - carried.
De Lange read a letter from David Norton stating that the
road was waShing down onto his lots in Arden'Hills #3. The
Road commissioner is to look into the matter.
De Lange reported' on a bad stretch of road o~f County Road F
on Valentine Road. Mack moved and'Ludlow seconded a motion
the road be made passable. carried.
Ch. of the Public Sa~ety Committee, Mc Clung, made a motion
that the salary and car allowance of the police officers be
raised to $125.00 per mo. until Nov. Ist.,that the police
chief be authorized to purchase 4 blankets and a lock metal
cabinet ~or each of~icer at a naximum cost o~ $40.00 per
cabinet. Mack secOnded the motion, and it carried. George
Salitros is to check into the priceo~ monitors to be used
in the homes of the police of~icers.

The food and soft"drink license application of Adam Bona was
read by the clerk. Ludlow moved and Mack seconded a motion
the licenses be issued - carried.
Melvin Hurlbert requested that the Village have ~orms made ~or
building and electrical inspection. Mack moved and De Lange
a motion that the inspectors order the forms needed - carried.

adjourned - carried.
