COUNCIL OF THfi: VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, October 26, 1953
The meeting was called to order at 8:07 P.M. by Mayor Cummings.
. Roll Call: All Council members present.
The !rlinutes of the meeting of September 28, 1953 were read by the -
clerk. Mack moved and Mc Clung seconded a motion the minutes be
approved as read - carried.
Jerome Wasielewski asked the Council's opinion on the possibility
of a prospective resident landing a sea plane on Lake Johanna.
Although there is no specific ordinance covering such a situation,
the Council thought it inadvisable for any resident to so infringe
on the rights of other residents.
Mr. Carley asked that the plat for the roads in Josephine Hills
be accepted by the Council ann the property be rezoned residential.
Ludlow moved and De Lange seconded a motion the plat for the roads
in Josephine Hills be accepted with the exception of the following
intersections:
Tiller Lane & Carleton Drive
Dunlap st. &'Tiller Lane
Fernwood Ave. & Carleton Drive
The motion carried; the Council requested a print of the plat be
sent to the clerk.
The Clerk read a letter and report from the Planning Committee.
The Mayor sUlsgested that Council members ponder suggestions made
by the committee.
Public Safety: Ch. Mc Clung submitted an ordinance relating to
grass and brush fires and burninft of trash for its first reading.
The ordinanCe was ref'erred to Mr. Courtney for cheCking and
suggestions.
Mc Clung moven end Ludlow seconded a motion the present salary
arrangements for the police officers be continued throu".h the
. month of November - carried;
Mc Clung moved ann. De Lange seconded a motion authorizing the
police officers to nurchase rain wear at a cost not to exceed
i'il15.00 each.

Attorney Courtney read the statute covering the use of air
rifles in the state of Minnesota. Mr. Courtney was instructed
to advise Mrs. Bernard Wolcyn of 3582 Siems Court of the above
mentioned statute in reply to her question about the same.

The clerk was instructed to write a l~ter to the Commissioner
of Highways relative to the draining'of a pond at the intersection
of Ridgewood and Lake Johanna B~~~ .....,.
Public Welfare - Ch. Mack,~~{ng to'report.
The clerk reported a phone...e,' from if. Jwanouskous compla.ining
of a bad garbage disposal situation attracting rats. After
discussion the Council i'nsttucted Ch. Mack to look into the
matter.
The Mayor reported he had written a letter tq the Du Ponts in re:
their donating some of the property held by tnem within fhe
Village for a park.
~f~rk - The clerk requested permission of the council to appoint
a deputy clerk. De Lange moved and Mack seconded a motion giving
the clerk authority to appoint a deputy clerk with a monthly pay-
ment up to $25.00 per month. The motion carried.
Claims #333 & 340 thru 343 were read by the clerk. Mack movod
and Mc Clung seconded 8 motion the claims be approved - carried.
Treasurer >>ead reported a reDly frOm the bank in the matter of
putting money on time deposit. Mr. Read sua:gested putting in
less than 10,000 dollars at the beginning and adding to thm
amount as financial saatus of the village warrants it.
M~ Clung moved and Mack seconded a motion the meeting be adjourned.
The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 10:25 P.M.
