COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, August 30, 1954

The meeting was called to order at 8:l0 P.M. by Mayo~Ashbach.
Present - Ashbach, Mc Clung, Mack, Ludlow
AbSent - De Lange
The;minutes Of the July 26th meeting were read by the clerk.
There being no additions or corrections the minutes stood approved
as read.
At this pOint the regular meeting ~as recessed to allow the
Council members tOjGin with residents of the Village in a commemor-
ation, sponsored by t~e League of Women Voters, to former mayor,
Walter Cummings. Mr. Walter ~ack made the presentation of a plaque,
installed on a wall of the Villap:e hall" to Mrs. ClL.1llllings, all of
IJX. Cumming'S many friends and residents of the Village. .1~. Mc Clung
spoke of his association with t~. C~1llllings as a Qouncil member and of
the respect in which he was held bY,all.
The qouneil then reconvened and went on to make reports to the
citizens assembled as to what has been done and what is being
_ planned for the Village.
Mayor'S Report - Mayor AShbach spoke of the pote~tial.indus-
trial deve~opment possil.Jle il1 the area of the Twin City Ordinance
Plant if that plant should ever arcain revert to civilian usage. He

also stated the problem of sewage as one to be faced in the future.
Planning Comnittee - Ch. Sexton reported Robert T. Jones,

that the condition has been corrected. Mack seconded the motion.
Thore being 2 ayes and 2 opposed the motion did not carry.
Hr. Mc Clunp; then moved the licenses of the Lakcview Terrace Club
~ be suspended lO days after Sept. lst, 1954 unless the new cess
pool is in satisfactory operation and has been approved by the
health officer on or prior to that date. The Village Attorney to he
directed to send_ a registered_ letter (return receipt requested) to
tho Lakcview 'f(;rrace Club advising them of the above action. Ludlow
seconded the f'lotion. The l~_otion carried unanimously.
The ordinance on dogs was referred_ to the comnittee on Public
Welfare for further study.
I.'lack moved and Me Clune; seconded a motion a:9proving Bert
Schutta and Esther Smith as judges; and Virginia Swanson and
Shirley Ludlow as clerks for the September 14th Priml'lry Election -
carried.
Ludlow moved Claims if 467 thru #473 be anproved. Mack seconded
the motion and the :motion carried.
