Roll Call: All members present. I41's. C. StieILla'aus, 4535 Hy. ~ Round Lake Improvement Assoc. 10 presented the Council with a letter from the regarding the New Brighton dump. Hayor Ashbach stated he would investiga,te the lllI'.tter. Hr. Jack Grudnoske ',resented a petition requesting rezoning of his ;oroperty Et Highway 96 and Hamline Ave. from farm residence to commercial. Hr. Courtney informed Mr. Grudnoske his petition must include all surrounding Ilmd O"'!l.ers within 500 ft., and also that he have a Certificate of AJlparent umd O~;ners attached to the petition. Mr. Wm. Bannister reported on the sewerage survey being conducted for Roseville and of the pessibility of a hook-up of )~den Hills and Roseville at some future dete. Hr. Bannister stated the 8,pproxime"te" cost to .Arden Hills for a survey by the BelL"l.ister Company "!QuId be $4,000.00. The survey would include [", topography study, suggested division of cost \!ith other villages on Sf>..:ne sewer system, and complete reports and recommendHtions of how a sewer system could be furnished to Arden Hills most economica12y. ~~. Carpenter. 1619 Lake JohannB. Blvd. reported to Council that ge was concerned D"bout the tyPe of grading of the vacant land next to his home. The second rea,ding of the N.S.P. natura.l gns Ordir.ence \JaS read. Dr. Hoyt moved ~and Mr. Fin.?..l1ce HcOlung seconded the motion that Section 7 be ammended. Motion passed. Committee : Mrs. Stromquist reported that a meeting of the Finance Committee wa"s held I~~ 5, 1955 ,'lith all members present. Mr. l~orth Read will conduct a survey of the vill~e insurance policies as to limits and extent of cover~~es. Mrs. Stromquist will set up an inventory of village property and equipment with a system of control and check out. '~s. Stromquist reported the need for a new filing cabinet for the Clerkl s records. Mr. J'.!cClung moved and 195 Mr. DeLange seconded the motion the clerk be authorized to purchase a filing cabinet. Motion passed. Mr. Read advised the Council to transfer the villaee funds to 1st Nat. Bank of St. Paul and deposit $5000.00 in bonds. This Betion had prior approval of the Council. . The Fin. Committee recommended that 10% of the Elec. Inspector's fees be deducted by the village to cover the cost of supplies and office work required. Dr. Hoyt moved ar.dMrs. Stromquist seconded the motion tl18t We accept 10% of Mr. Salverda's fees. ~lotion was passed. The Fin. Q)mmittee recommende for Council consideration that when Council members make their requests for the 1956 budget. that each officer submit a detailed list of budget requirements with supporting details. to aid the Fin. Committee in making up the new budget. The Fin Committee also suggested thet in future Council give consideration to getting reimbursement from the benefactors for services rendered. Public Safety Committee: No report. Public Works Committee: ~lr. DeLange reported that his committee. conducted a survey of street safety. stop signs etc. of all village streets. ~lr. DeLange , Res ordered some new street signs to be put in by the County. There .ms a request from the residents of Serv-ice Drive to change the IlI'.me of the street to LeL~eshore Place.. Mr. DeLange moved end Dr. Hoyt seconded the motion th;"t we cha.."l6e then name to. Lake shore Place, subject to approval by the County Engineer. Motion passed. Stromquist abstained from voting. . Mr. DeLange reported there are still drainage problems on some village streets. He also stated several trees have been removed. and there is an order in to blade and oil all ville~e streets. Public Welfare Committee: Dr. Hoyt reported that a meeting of the Executive Committee of the ~w~or's Advisory Committee was held. The ~in Cities Arsenal he.s advi sed us that a sewar,e hook-up ,-Ji th the arsenal sewer and Arden Hills . . 196 cannot be available. and that Round Lake must be retained by the arsenal. Clerk's Report- Regarding Bldg. Insp. Owen's letter of Me~y 17. 1955 to clerk. after Council discussjon, it was decided th9t Mr. Owen should be permitted to inspect the houses thl'~t he constructs. At this time lllayor Ashbach left the meetir.g, and Acting lWyor DeL"nge took charge of the meeting. The Dog Ordinance vas presente~ for the second reading. There were some suggested ammendments and Hr. Courtney agreed to ammend the Ordina.nce. l~!r. McClung me,de 9. motion thnt this be considered the second re9ding of the Ordinance, and the clerk is to give the residents of the village notice th",t the Dog Ordinance ~!ill be Ql:onsi6.ered nt the next Council meetir.g and all interested persons should attend. Dr. Hoyt seconded and the motion was passed. Claims for MP", were presented to Council by the Clerk. Dr. Hoyt moved and Hr. l,rcClung seconded the motion thl'tt Claims #605 thru 618 be paid.
