COUNCIL OF TEE VILLAGE OF ARDEn HILLS
Monday. March 26. 1956
The meeting ",as ~~lled to order at 7;00 P.~I. by Mayor Ashbaeh .
Roll Call; All Council members present.
Mr. Marshall Anderson and ~. Lyle Sauers representing the Geor~e R. Sauers Comp~
appeared and requested final approval fo,' Shorewod Hills 1/ 4 Plat. After Qouncll
~ discussion. Mr. Sauers stated he ",ould set up a restrictive covenant for the'p1at
and give thought to a minumum floorsr.aDe requirement of 1.000squa.re feet not
including gara,<;es. breeze",ays. Mr. Carley wilf. give f'n wstimate of the bond require-
ment. for road construction. Mr. Ashbach moved.an~ Mr. McClung seconded the mo~ion
giving Shorewood Hills '* 4 preliminary approval.
Shore",ood Hills '* 6 Plat tlaspresented by the Sauers Compa.n;v for Council approval.
The plat was referred to the Planning Board.
Mr. Art Puett, 3615 Snelling Ave. appeared to request that the building occupied by
him at the above address be condemmed. Roy Owen, Building Inspector racommended
condemnation of the building. The Council requested that Building Inspector write
a letter to the Villa,<;e Clerk recommending the condemnation, the letter to be
forwarded to the Villl'.ge Attorney, who ~!ill set up condenmation procedings so that
the builcling cannot be occupied by the present occupant nor anyone else for bc.siness
nor. residential.
Mrs. Fyten, 1137 Edgewater reported a situation at the Richardson residence at 1144
Edgewe.ter. Mrs. Fyten said there isa ge.rbage d1e in the yard "'inter p.nd summer
which causes undi.erable odor, insects and rats. The matter is to be referred to
Dr. Sekhon. Public Health Officer.
Public Works Committee: Mr. DeLange announced that Mr. Fred Coates "'ill assist him
and have charge of village roads on week days in Mr. DeLNlIl:e's absence.
All village roads have been posted.
Mr. ])ellmge met and talied with Mr. Tretter of Northern States Power dompl'.ny
re,o:ardil'..!!: Tiller Lene. The power comps.ny is puttin.o: crushed rock on the street at
the request of the vi11a,<;e.
Mr. Carpenter and Mr. Wasielewski registered a complaint in regards to draina.o:e
against Mr. Miske. owner of adjoining property. As the drainage problem is a civil
problem rether than village or county, the village is .. =b1e to act upon it.
Mayor's Report; Mavor Ashbach s~ested that a list of plat requirements be made for
Council use for future plat approvals. Clerk will make list and furnish cgpies to
Council members.
. ~e 01erk was requested to check wi th Mr. Courntey in regards to setting up a
standard procedure for filing deed restrictions, deeds on land grl'nted to villa~e
and other regulations concerning plat developements.
In response to reQuests for a more stricter dog ordinance. the Council requested Mr.
Courtne:o;r to draw UIl an ordinance. Masor Ashbach will check into cost for a dog
catcher and enforecment of such p~ erdinance.
Roy Owen. BulldiIlO!: Inspector reprot!'d that e. buildin,o: ~ permit was issued to
Bently Construction for erection of a house on two lots in Arden Hills 2 but that
the contractor is putting the building on t~!O different lots than specified in the
bUilding penuit.

Mr.. Owen ~as reauested by Council to send a letter to the contractor releasing
villa,Q:e of Arden Hills of any future dr8,in"~e problems for the building due to the
location of the house.
Clerk's Report: The Council decided not to order the Fall issue of SUburban
Directory to be published by the Polk Compa.ny.

The Council took no action on e request from Mr. Schifsky that we request the
re-opening of Mounds View dump.
C1ai~s 785 thru 807 were read bV Clerk an~ approved by Council.
Mrs. Sek:hon. re:preseating the Lea.e:ue of Women Voters of Arden Hills presented
Council members with copies of a booklet "R8~sey County Profile" a description of
county government.
Upon motion by Mr. McClu:cg and seconded by Mrs. Stromquist. meeting was adjourned
at 8:25 P.M.
