The minl1tes of the August 26, 1957 meeting of the Council were read and approved. FINANCE CONHITTE,'E: Mrs. Stromquist, Finance Committee Chairman relcorted that the committee held a meeting aJld Horl,ed on the 1958 budget. The committee reco~~endations on the budget will be given at the next meeting. PD~LIC SAFBTY COfTI1ITTEE: Mr. Winfrey advised against purchase of the used squad car that Mounds Vi~, TOvlIlShip has for sale. Mr. Winfrey will check purchase cost of a new car and report back to Council. Hr. Vleber re"orted a request from Mounds Vie" High School Official for patrolling of school grounds. Hr. Weber feels policing of school ground to be the responsibility of the school district rather than the village. Extra patrolling will be done on roads near the school after school hours. ... ... PUBLIC WORKS CO~~ITTEE: Mr. Ashbach reported a request from Mr. Kunze, pr:.ncipal of Hounds Vi""" High School for a street light in front of his house because tomatoes and possibi:! ity a rock ',.ras throun at his front "lindow. No action ,'laS taken at this meeting but police departoent agreed to gj.ve extra attention to patrolling his house and neighborhood. After discussing the matter of the request to Imler and resurface Edg~,ater Avenue, motion vTaS made by Hoyt, seconded by Vl::.nfrey to correct the grade of the street (Edgewater) and proceed under the Local Improveoent Code, motion passed. Engineer Carley Ims requested to bring in preliminary estimates of cost and specifications. Conncil requested hr. Ashbach and Public Works Conmittee to make a recommendation a.s to what percentage the ViJlage and 'H'hat percentage the inunediately benefitted residents should pay. .-' . Hr. Ashbach stated that Mr. Bannister Idll soon mal:e a report on the proposal S~H'er outlet from ~Nin City i~senal. PUBLIC WBLFM1E: Upon motion by Hoyt, seconded by Stromquist, rules were suspended and a second and final reading was given on Ordinance lillending Ordinance Nwnber 16, knovm as the Building Code. Motion passed. Clerk to publish it in Rose Tribune Dr. Hoyt reported that Hr. Kenna agreed to sell the six lots at County Road E :and Hamline Avenue for $10,000.00 to the Village. Part of this area has been used for midget baseball during the past summer.; The Council felt it might be a very desirable playground area. Dr. Hoyt was requested to check further into the matter and to report back to the COlIDCil. . Carley & Asso- ciates, Village Engineers, for stu~r and that they be instructed to report to the C01..m.cil with all 'convenient speed advising the Council in a prelim- inary way 8S to IJhether the proposed inprovement is feasible and as to whether it should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other improvement, and the estimated cost of the improvement as reconmlended.
