a basement 26 x 39 and a garage nm. exist on the premises. Mr. K. Olson
wishes to live in the basement until a house can be built on the basement,
nm-r habited by the Mattsons. Requested of council to permit habitation
of the basement until house can be comn1eted.

Hot ion by Hoyt - Seconded by Winfrey to authorize Mr. Olson to occupy
the basement at 4235 Ham1ine until September 30, 1958, during period
of construction of a new house on the basement. Motion passed.
Vic Weber re;Jorted on the Clauson trailer care. Trailer no longer
occupied wld is to be sold. Burned house remnants to be torn dOvrn.

FINANCE COlIlfI'E1'EE REPORT: $29,254.61 to be raised by tax revenue for
1958 budget. Extimated tax levy for 1958 ,-[ould be about 20 mills.

Hoyt moved approval of 1958 budget as reported out of finance comnittee.
Seconded by DeLange - Winfrey objected to the reduction in the Public
Safety portj.on of the budget. Hotion passed.

a pac_ice car. Village engineers report - AJ..exander Grant Park draina.ge
problem reported on 21:" stror~ sel:Ter - 2 IS" laterals and catch basins
required - Est. cost ~p35oo. Assessment of property mmers suggested by
Ashbach. Carley SUGgest stabilization of Grant road with sm,er tied in.

EESOLUTION HECEIVINJ REPORT AND CitLLINJ HEAEIII)J ON HlPROVEHENT
1JEEF-EAS, pursuant to Resolution of the Council adopted September 9,
1957, a report has been prepared by Milner W. Carley & Associates, Village
Engineers, with reference to the improvement of EdgeW'dter Avenue betw2en
the Easterly line of Ridgewood and the ;-Iesterly line of Asbury Street by
grading and correcting drainage thereon, and this report was received ~J
the Courlcil on September ]0, 1957.
NGil THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ARDEN HILLS,
NIl'JJ'ESOTA:
.". The Counci 1 tori 11 consider tr~e improvement of such street in ac-
cordance wi th the report and the 2.sse ssment of abutting property for all
or a portion of the cost of the improvement pursuant to Hinnesota statutes,
Sections )j29.011 to 429.111, as amended, at an estimated total cost of the
improvement of Five Thousand_ Seven Hundred Dollars ($5,700.00).
2. A public hearing shall be held on such proposed improvement on
the 28th day of October, 1957, in the Village Hall on Highway 96 bet,reen
Snelling Avenue and Hamline Avenue, at 8:00 o'Clock P. N., and the Clerk
sh811 give published notice of such hearing and improvement as required by
laH.

PUBLIC WORKS: Moved by HOyt that a public hearing be set for October 28
under the local improvement code for correction of the drainage and
street improvement on Edgewater Avenue bet,feen the Easter::.y line of
Ridg~Nood and the Westerly line of Asbury as provided by law.
PUBLIC WELFARE: Courtney discussed rules relating to purchase of property
by municipalities on instaJ.lment basis.
. Report J. A. Anderson request on mobile house at 1257 Amble Road.
Property to be inspected and reported at next meeting.
Ashback reported on designation of village approvaJ of Co. Roads as
state aid roads. DeLange Boved approved, Winfrey second. Motion passed.
Ashbach read a letter from I.O.O.O.F. concerning a drainage problem on
Edgewater Avenue and their driveway.
Drunkometer test bill submitted was approved as a village indebtedness.
Mr. Aurens reported $500,000 evaluation on buildings for which 55 perni ts
had boen iSS1J8d the past year. He will plan to be at the October 14-
meeting.
Winfrey moved payment of claims 114-6 - 1179 for $3,095.92. Seconded
by DeLange. Motion passed.
