COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, November 11, 1957
The meeting 'lIas called to order at 8:ee P.ll. by Mayor Ashbach.
ROLL CALL: Present; ~shbach, Hoyt, Winfrey, stromquist
Absent; DeLange
. The sealed bids for squad car opened by Clerk, were as follows:
Midway Ford $2320.00
Clayton Anderson Motors $2275.00
Upon motion by Hoyt, seconded by Stromquist, the bids were referred
to the Public Safety Committee for recommendation at the next Council
meeting. Motion passed. The 5% deposits of both bidders were filed
with Clerk.
ENG TIlEERS REPORT: Mr. Carley submitted a written report in regard
to the Kennedy drainage problem. Council discussed possibiLty of
correcting the drainage and resurf,cccing the street together.
fill'. Be. Germain presented Council '.,i th a proposed Zoning Hap for
the new area of Arden HiJls, as recommended by the. sub-Zoning
Committee. The map was referred to Dr. Hoyt's Committee for study.
Hr. vlinfrey reported that it J.s the recoB.'11endation of the Public
Safety Co~@ittee that the bill for generator on Jacks Wolfs car
should not be paid from Village funds.

Mr. Winfrey inquired about the liquor question. The Chairman of
the Liquor Committee ,<1,.S not present to report on the m2tter. A
public hCaI'jng to be held by the CO'.:mittee was discussed. Hayor
Ashbach to contact committee chairman.
Mr. Ashbach reported that County officials are working thru
Washington D.C. thru lobbyists to get private industry into the
Twin City l~senal. Dr. Hoyt suggested that Council members teke
turns and 5end in letters ,>leekly as private cLtizens and as public
officials requesting tht private industry be allowed at the l~senal.
. Hayor Lshbach read 2. letter from Xttorney Courtney in regard to an
easement on property on Lake Johanna. L, quit clain deed We',S
enclosed. The property now belongs to Hounds View Tm~ship. "shbach
to send copies of the letter to all Council memb()rs.
Dr. Hoyt revorted he hGd written to Mr. Kenna informing him of the
action taken in regards to the property at Co. Rd. E. and Hamline.
Mr. &shbach to check further on Neuman property cffid Ingerson property.
Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Hoyt, the Bannister Engineering
Comp2l1Y is to be requested,for the Arden Hills #3 area of ,.orden Hills

Upon motion by Hoyt, seconded by Stromquist, the Vilhge is to retain
20% of all inspection f.eos except the electrical inspection, of which
Vill:-ge uill retain 1070, with the inspector to receive the reLlainder.

Dr. Hoyt stated he felt we should eventually set up some set amounts
. for inspect:lon, r,s.ther theJl to be paid on a percent;ge basis.

call a meeting for Civil Defense soon.
