Thursday, January 2, 1958
The meeting was called to order.
Attorney Courtney administered the oath of office. 'The following
Village Officers were sworn into office, Robert O. Ashbach, Mayor;
Carl V. Langer. Trustee; Douglas M. Barthany, Justice of the Peace;
Arthur StGermain, Constable; and Worth G. Read, Treasurer. '

Upon motion by Winfrey. seconded by Stromquist the amount of $800.00
was authorized as payment to the Lake Johanna Voluntee Fire Department
for payment for fire protection to the newly annexed area to .the Village
for the period of May thru December, 1957.
Upon motion by Ashbach, seconded by Stromquist, Jerome Wasi11ewski and
Jack Wolf were appointed temporarily as Police Officefls until the January
13 meeting of the Council.
Mayor Ashbach and the Council attended a meeting with officials of the Twin
Cities Arsenal. The 24" sewer main belonging to the ARsenal may be made
a vailable to the Village in the future.
Mr. Read, Liquor Committee Chairman, reported briefly on the status of
the liquor question. He stated the Committee favors anotl:1--'~j"1~,~et,.1"lJ...
clause. A more complete report is to be given by Mr. Read on or before
the regular January 27 meeting of the Council.
Claim #1260 and 1261 to the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department were
approved by the Council.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
