COUNCIL, OF THE VILLAGE" OF, ARDEN HILLS

The meeting was called to order at ~:OO P.M. by Mayor Ashbach.
Roll Call: Present; Ashbach, Winfrey, Crepeau, Stromquist.
Absent; DeLange -
The Minutes of the May 12, 1953 meeting of the Council were read and
. approved.
Mr. Earl Jensen, 3197 Je~sen Avenue requested permission to put a base-
ment under his house, which is smaller than our ordinance allows. The
matter was referred to the Public Welfare Committee.
Mayor Gibson of Mounds View inquired of the status of the village hall
sale. Our Attorney is to work out details with Mounds View Attorney.
Mr. Baugh, Heating Inspector, reported a problem when some heating in-
stallation deale~s fail to take out proper village licenses and permits.
The list was presented to Mr. Crepeau for police department action.
A complaint of the hazard caused by old bat~~ouses at the County park
at Lake Johanna was referred to the Public Safety Committee.
A request from Mr. Krannak for rezoning a part of Shorewood Hills Dlat
to multiple dwelling and a part for a nursing home was referred to the
public welfare committee. '

Council granted permission for Mounds View Little League baseball team
to hold games at the field at Hamline And Co. Rd. ~ on Wednesday nights
except June 11, July 2, July 9 and August 6~
A request by Mr. Sparks for the removal of a power post on the village
playground was referred to Mr. Crepeau.
Attorney1s Report: Vx. Courtney reported that he sent another letter to
Mr. Surina ordering completion of the unfinished house qn Tiller Lane.
A Prospectus for the Kenna pronerty bond issue was presented Council
members, and extra copies filea with the /Clerk.
Mr. Courtney requested thatt due to the bond issue notice, that the June
9 Council meeting begin at :00 P.M. instead of 3:00 P.M. ,
A first draft of the liquor ordiance was read and explained by Attorney
Courtney.
Upon motion by ',anfrey, seconded by Crepeau, the first reading waS given
An Ordinance Licinsing and Regulating the Sale and Consumption of Intox-
icating Liquor and Providing a Penalty for Violation. Motion passed.
The ordinance waS referred to the Council for study and to the Finance
Committee for recommendation on feeS etc.
Mr. Winfrey presented the proposed Zoning Map of the annexed Lake Johanna
area. After presentation, upon motion by Winfreyl. seconded by Crepeau,
a first reading was given to An Amendment to the ~oning Ordinance and
Map, Motion passed.
Upon motion by Stromquist, seconded by Winfrey, a licnese application
forthe off sale of non-in"oxicating malt liquor was approved for Kemp's
~ Grocery for the year 1959, Motion passed.
Mayor's Report: Mayor Ashbach reported a letter sent to Roseville in
rega,rd to a proposed name change for Co. Ri't, D in the Rosevl11e Terrace
plat.
Mayor Ashbach reported that arsenal officlals have requested an excluslve
lease of their 2~" sewer llne to Arden Hills Village.
A request to bulld a gargge on commerclal property at Twln Clties Tral1er
Court was referred to Winfrey. Permit to be issued upon authorization
by \>l1nfrey.
Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Stromquist~ ClaimS 1372 thru 1394,
except Claim l3S6 were approved for payment. upon approval of Mayor
Ashbach, Claim 13g6 may be pald. Motion passed.
