HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 06-09-1958 HlNUTES OF REGULAR MEETING COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS . Monday, June 9, 1955 . The meeting was called to order at 7:0$ p.m. by Mayor Ashbach. Roll Call: Present; Ashbach, Winfrey, Crepeau, Stromquist Absent; DeLange Sealed bids were opened by Clerk for the bond sale for the purchase of the Kenna property at County Road E and Hamline Avenue, as follows: Juran and Moody, Inc. - 2.S7% First State Bank of New Brighton - 3t% The Juran-Moody bid was submitted in 2 parts, and both bids were presented to the attorney for study. Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Crepeau, Council accepted the low bid of Juran-Mood~subject to verification of the statement made that the bid will be $S61.00 or 2.S7%. Motion passed. A group of residents living on County Ro~d D requested permission to pump out their cesspools during the night, as they stated there is no way for them to correct their filled cesspools except by pumping them out. The matter was referred to Mr. Crepeau to cheok into with the Village Health Offioer. Stromquist reported a meeting held by the Finanoe Committee and pre- sented the Council with committee recommendations, on the proposed liquor ordinance. . Upon motion by Stromquist, seoonded by Winfrey an Ordinanoe Lioensing and Regulating the Sale and Consumption of Intoxicating Liqu9r and Providing a Penalty For Violation was given.a second rea~ing. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Stromquist, an Ordinance For the Regulation of Motor Boats on Lake Johanna was introduced by t~tle, to be considered the first reading. Motion passed. Engineer Carley reported that he has been unable so far to obtain Mr. S~erman's signature for the easement needed for the Grant Avenue road project, as Mr. Sherman feels the 'Tillage should re-seed the property used after the work is done. Council agreed that the Village will re- seed the land used. . Building Inspector Kelley reporteo. 11e had received a complaint stating that Dick Sctrreyer has a te~porary cooler at his dock on his residential property, which is a commercial use of the property. Mr. Schreyer informed the Council that it is a temporary,collapsib1e cooler and he proposes to use it this year only qt that location. He statect that his immediate neighbors are wUling to sign that they do not object to the use. The matter was refe:>:>reo to the Public '.fe1fare C,om- mittee. . Police Chief Weber reoorted trouble with cars parking on the property on Highway #96 between Highway #10 and Snelling Avenue where an old, vacant street car is parked. Clerk informed Council that former Building Inspector Owen had red-tagged tr~ property. The matter was referred to Building Inspector Kelley. , Clerk was reouested to check to see if a road cerformance bond is filed for Jo~'ifr~:,IllllS it) and inform building inspector. Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Stromquist, an amendment to the Arden Hills Zoning Ordinance and map w~s given a second reading. Motion passed. ~tr. Council author- ized Crepeau to have new forms printed. Crepeau requested Council ooinion 8S to whether or not our police officers shoulc. be paid by the Village 1.hen a subpena is servec, on them to appear in Juvenile Court cases. Mayor Ashbach reported that Roseville agreed to a proposed name change of COlJ.nty Road D to Glenhill Road at -:;he Roseville Terrace plat. lfo'5ian ~a~~ud. Clerk to inform 30m'd of County Commissioners. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Winfrey, Temporary Road Commissioner Ashbach was ~uthorized to use his own disgresslon on road maintenance this season. Motion passed.
