Roll Can: Present; Winfrey, Crepeau, Kennedy, Stromquist. Absent; Ashbach. Mr. Wm. Devitt attended the meeting for Attorney Courntey. The Minutes of the January 12, 1959 meeting were read and approved. Engineer Carley presented revised plans for turn around and footpath at Ridgewood Court. A group .Of residents, Mrs. Klass, ~lrs. Kelsey, Mrs. Martell, Mrs. Kuehn and J.lrs. Tissell expressed dis- satisfaction with the present proposed plan for the footpath. The matter was referred back to ~layor Ashbach, Trustee Crepeau and Engineer Carley. A letter of January 26, 1959 from Attorney Courtney was read to Council. Upon motion by Stromquis4 seconded by Winfrey, elected public officials were requested to inform Clerk whether or not they wish to become or remain members of the Public Employees Retirement Assoc. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy a resolution (as attached) commending the Arden Hills Sportsmen's Club was given council approval. Motion passed. Upon motion by Kennedy, seconded by Crepeau as resolution ( as attached) commending Mr. B. J. DeLange for services to Arden Hills was given council approval. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy Clerk was authorized to write to the Board of Ramsey County Commissioners requesting that the Arden Hills Sportsmen's Club be granted the concession stand at Johanna Beach for 1959. Motion passed. A copy of a memo from Attorney COl!!'Iltney to Claude Allen, as attached was read to Council :requesting Mr. Allen to introduce a bill on the proposed liquor legislation in the Senate. Council referred the matter to Clerk and Treasurer to contact other representatives and senators iIlrom rural Ramsey County for their support of the bill. Clerk was requested to notify the secretary of Ramsey County Municipal Assoc. to try to get support on the bill from other munici pali ties. After examination and approval of the off sale liquor license application submitted by Grace Stecker by Police Depat and Fire Dept and village attorney, motion was made by Stromquist, seconded by Crepeau that an off sale liquor license be granted to Grace Stecker for the Wagon Wheel Bottle Shop at 3610 N. Snelling Avenue for the period of February 1, 1959 thru December 31, 1959. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Stromquist, a request from Kenneth Sparks to allow the Arden Hills Sportsmen's Club to hold a playground naming contest for the playground at Co. Rd. E and lIa.rM>ine Avenue, as per the attached letter of January l;!l was approved, subject tp approval of the village attorney. Motion passed. Public Works Committee: Mr. Kennedy presented council with lists of village streets in alphebetica~ .order, and also reported that he now has the village maps which he ordered from Ramsey County. Public Safety Committee: Crepeau reported he had checked our insurance policy in regard to squad car and finds it satisfactory. Crepeau announced that he has been made a member of a committee to draw up a uniform curfew ordinance for all of rural Rmnsey County by the Rmnsey County Municipal Assoc. Nr. C$peau reported that the dog ordinance will be given further committee study. Mr. Crepeau recommended payment from village funds for one more parks for the police department, thus allowing both policemen and the police chief a parka, but did not recommend setting up a clothing allowance for police officers. ..;.r,\"., . SCATE OF MINNESOTA OOUNTY OF RAMSEY VILUlGE OF ARDEN HILLS RESOLUl'ION C<J4MENDUli ARDEN HILLS SPORTSMEN'S CLUB )IHEREAS, the Arden Hi lls Sportsmenl s Club is a voluntary association of . men frOlll the VillBges in rural Ramsey County, 'Which association has been or- ganized for the purpose of prOllloting civic and community athletics and sporting events of all kinds, and l!IHEREAS, in the past this Club has sponsored hockey teams, baseball teams and softball teams in this area, thus aiding the children of the area and pro- moting a healtny participation in such sports, and WIEREAS, the Club has also sponsored the Annual Kid's Fishing Contest at Lake Johanna, 'Which event has been well-conducted and well-attended, and llHEREAS, the members of the Club have unselfishly contributed their time on a non-profit basis for the benefit of Arden Hills and the surrounding commun- ities, rDW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Council of Arden Hills does hereby commend the Arden Hills Sportsmen's Club for its programs and accomplish- ments in the past, and, on behalf of itself and the people of Arden Hills, does hereby express appreciation to the Club and its members, and its hope that the activities of the Club will be continued and expanded in the future. Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Stromquist an ordinance amending the Building Code was introduced by title. motion passed, Upon motion by Winfrey, seconded by Kennedy, an ordinance condemning ce:btain buildings was introduced by title. Motion passejl. Mr. Winfrey infonned recreation represnetative Ken Sparks that because the amount of money allol:fed in the budget for lighting the Lake Johanna skating rink was $250,00 and the project cost the village $307.00, that he try to make up the difference by spending that much less in 1959. &erk's Report: Upon motion by Stromquist, seconded by Crepeau, the following appointments were _de for 1959: Clay Kelley, Building Inspector; Ed Salverda, Electrical Inspector; Harry Thompson, Heating Inspector; Winfield West, Plumbing Inspector. Motion passed. Upon motion by Kennedy, seconded by Crepeau, the New Brighton Bank was named official depository for 1959. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy, Hans Prechtel was appointed village assessor for 1959. Motion passed. Upon motion by Stromquist, seconded by Crepeau, Margaret Steinkraus was appointed deputy clerk for the year 1959. Motion passed. Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy, the offer of John Bell to publich the legal notices of Arden Hills for the year 1959 was accepted. Motion passed.
