MINU'rES OF'-REGUIAR'MEETING
COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS
Monday, July 13, 1959
j~ meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Mayor Ashbaeh.

A.bsent; None.
The Minutes of the June 29, 1959 meeting were read and approved as ,amended.
Mr. Jack Grudnoske requested rezoning from Residential to Commeroial 80m;
.aProperty owned by him at Highway 96 snf Hamline Avenue. Counoil requested
~hat he submit a legal desoription of the land to Clerk.
Mr. Harry Adams, representing the Walter Butler Co. requested oonsideration
as engineering oompany for designing proposed sewer s~stem when it is to be
put in. Counoil informed Mr. Adams that to date the Bannister Engineering
Uompany has been working on sewer plans for the SE portion of village, bu~
oonsideration will be given if a sewer engineer is needed for other areas of
village at a later date.
Counoil received a request from Mrs. Ritter to zone Shorewood Hills for sub-
sjandard speed beoause of narrow roads, blind oorners, hills etc. Motion
made by Delange, seconded by Crepeau that Clerk write to Counay Board to
request a 20 mile per hour speed limit in Shorewood Hills. Motion passed.
Mr. J.D. Timm, 1400 Cummings Lane requested an arc light at Snelling Avenue
and Cummings Lane and a reduction of speed limit on Snelling Avenue, if
possible. Matter referred to De~~ge.

Mr. Don Gode submitted to Coune:;l,l.petitions both for and against sanitary
sewer improvements now under proposal for the Southeastern portion of Arden
Hills. Counoil to give matter fUat,.AArliltudy.
Public Weljfare Committee: Upon motion by Kennedy, seconded by StromqUist
Ordinance 40 to Amend t~e Zoning Ordinance to list the permitted uses in
Area R-2 was given a final reading and admption. Motion passed.
Upon motion by Kennedy, seconded by Stromquist an. Ordinance regulating
garbage and rubbish was introduced by title. Motion passed.
Public Works Committee: Mr. Timm requested a dead end sign at Cummings Lane.
Matter referred to Delange.
~. Vogel reported that water oollects after heavy rains in froat
..,iveway at Fairview and Gramsie. Referred to DeIe.nge.
Motion made by Delange, seoonded by Crepeau that Village Attorney be author-
ized to begin oondemnation proceedings to acquire a 60 foot right of way
with at least 30 feet on either side of the quarter section line along the
so-called Tschida property leading to the ~roposed plat of Husby'S Crestview
and West past proposed plat of Husby's Crestview over the Oswald Tsohida
property. Motion passed. Trustee Kennedy ~o notify John Daubney, Attorney
~or James E. Johnson of the aotion taken.

- _ Public Safety Committee : Crepeau reported that five dogs have been
~~poisoned in ~rden Hills 3 area. Police Department are working on the case.
Crepeau to check with Conservation Department as to whether or not a fence
in the lake can be ordered removed.
Clerk's Report: Upom mot;pn by Stromquist, seconded by Delange, an Ordinance
. Repealing Ordinance #!f a:atablishing an official Depository for the Village
of Arden Hills and Remo~ing Depository Limitations was introduced by title.
Motion passed.
Upon motion by Stromquist, seconded by Ashbach, an Ordinance Amending
Ordinance #16 to Provide new requirements with re~erence to Liability
Insurance and repealing Section 8-10 was given a second reading. Motion
passed.
Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Delange a Curfew Ordinance for Village
was introduced by tit.le. Motion passed.
A request from Eleotrioal Inspector Salverda in regard to eleotric insp.
fees was referred to Finance Committee.
A request from 2lumbing Inspector West for a ohange in well drilling and
outdoor oesspool and oeptic tank inspection fees was referred to Finance
Committee.
