FOR THE VILLAGE OF AllDEN HILIS MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 1959 The meeting was called to order at 8110 p.m. by Mayor Ashbach. . Roll Call: Pres~t; Ashbach, Crepeau, Kennedy, DeLange, Stromquist Absent; none TM minlites of the July 27, 1959 meeting were read and approved. Mr. Jim Johnson, attorney for Schreyer, Inc. requested and was infomed of present status of proposed liquor license for Schreyer, Inc. Mr. Johnson informed Council detailed build- ing plans will be submitted to Council in near future. A public hearill8 was set for the request of Jack: Grudnoske to rezone land at H..m1ine Avenue and Highway 96 to cOllllllercial for September 28, 1959 at 8:00 p.m. at the Village Hall. PUBLIC WORKS COJol!lll'I'rEE: DeLange quoted prices for installation and purchase of poles for the playground at Hamline Avenue end County Road. E. PUBLIC WELFARE COMMITTEE: Iermedy reported that the sW portion of Village has made lllaII;l' requests for public hearing soon on sewer. Hearing date to be set as soon as possible. Motion by Kennedy, seconded by Crepeau that rules be suspended and an Orilin"""e amending the Zoning Or~i """ee to rezone to Commercial property located in the Et of the NEt of the NEt of Section 34, Township 30 North, Range 23 West was given a final reading and passage. PUBLIC ~: Motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy that rules be suspended and an Ordinanoe Repealing Ordinance #23, and providing for the regulation of the presenoe of minors under the age of 18 years on the streets or in publio places between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., defining the duties of parents, and others in the oare of minors and providing the penalties for violations thereof was given a second and final reading and passage. Motion passed. Crepeau aJlllounced that the Arden Hills Civil Defense patrol has given muoh volunteer help during the summer on patrol of beaches, etc. Mavor's Reoort: Mayor Ashbach reported that the lllBYor of New Brighton has requested that the proposed street of lst Avenue North behind the Catholic Church in New Brighton be con- structed to relieve congestion in the area. The road divides Arden Hills and New Brighton. Mr. Johnson inquired status of road to proposed Husby's Crestview plat. Council informed him that Village Attorney is till checking the matte. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Nordin, both residents on the road stated thlly prefer it to remain a private road, unimproved by the Village . Electrical Inspector Salverda stated ha had bad reports of violation on electrical con- struction on grounds of Twin Cities Arsenal and asked if' he has the power to go in and check the matter. Matter referred to Village Attorney. . Clerk's Rellort: Stromquist requested that budget requests for 1960 be submitted clerk for Finance Committee study on or before the meeting of August 31.
