HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 05-22-1961 (2) . ., '0. , ~'The The the SPECIAL lVlEETING COUNCIL OF VILXAGE OF ARDEN HILLS Monday, May 22, 1961 meeting was called to order by Mayor AShbach at 8:05 p.m. purpose of this meeting was to have the presentation to the council of road plans for the Village of Arden Hills by Bannister Engineering Co. PRESENT: AShbach, Crepeau. Stromquist, Olmen Mr. Kennedy arrived at 8:45 p.m. Also attending: Mr. courtney, Village Attorney. Roger Short and and Carl Burandt, engineers from Bannister Engineering Co. MR. SHORT stated the following: If the advertisement for bids can be published this week bids can then be received by Friday, June 16. 1961. The public hearing could be held perhaps on Monday. June 19, 1961. Mr. Popovich stated that all three area hearings can be held the same evening or they can be divided and held separately. The street improvements are to be numbered the same as the sewer improve- ments, i.e. street Imp. #3 corresponds to Sewer Imp. #3, Street Imp. #4 oorresponds to Sewer Imp. #4 but street Imp. #5 will correspond to Sewer Imp. #2. Mr. Carl BURANDT then presented the maps for each street improvement explain- ing in detail the plans and specifications for the proposed ro~d program. .MR. VINCENT COURTNEY referred to the Walter Jamma easement #2e23 at 3330 L9.ke Johanna Blvd. Mr. Jamma insists on a guarantee from the Village for any damage oaused to him in the event the Village has to go into the 50 ft. of cast iron pipe going through his property and a portion of whioh will be beneath a section of a new addition he is putting on his home. Mr. Olmen moved, Mr.Kennedy seconded a motion that Mr. Courtney insert a clause of guarantee into the easement for damages and also a statement that the Village will not be liable for any damage the property owner himself causes to the pipe when he builds the addition onto his home. Motion carried. MR. BURANDT suggested that a oompletion date of Oot. 1, 1961 and no earlier than Sept. 15, 1961 were being considered. The road bids will be in the form of three base bids and also one combined bid. The work will take six weeks on a street with two weeks more work added to the streets having storm sewers. The contraotor will haul the culverts probably to a spot on the Village Hall property. The area including Siems Court, Ridgewood Court and Road, Arden Flace and Skiles L9.ne West of Snelling shall be graded, perhaps graveled. but reserve the right to be surfaced in 1962. Mr.. OLMEN moved. Mr. Kennedy seoonded a motion that bids be let at 2:30 p.m., Central Daylight Savings Time, Friday, June 16, 1961. Motion carried. Mr. CREPEAU moved, Mr. Kennedy seconded a motion that former Police Chief ~Vic Weber be appointed as Deputy commissio,ner of Public Safety retroactive "'to May 1st, 1961. Carried. May 22, 1961 Page 2 Mr. Kennedy moved, Mr. crepeau seconded a motion that Florien Welsch of ~the Big Ten Supper Club be given a special use per.mit for a house trailer "'to be placed at the rear of his supper club property for a period of ninety days.
