The property to be developed is located within the North Heights Lutheran Church property boundaries near the intersection of County Highway 96 and Highway 10. The development project includes the subdivision of 10.74 acres of land in the northwest corner of the North Heights property for the apartment development. Amenities planned for the apartment building include a community room for resident parties, group functions, and family gatherings, an outdoor patio and grill area, and a rooftop lounge with outdoor fireplace and game room. On July 22, 2024, the City Council approved a redevelopment project from Rose Kukwa for the property located at 3776 Connelly Avenue, the former Northern Lights Bingo Hall. The property will be updated to be used as an event center and a restaurant with a 450-guest event space capacity and 34-guest restaurant space. The space is being designed to host a range of events such as weddings, cultural celebrations, and corporate functions. The redevelopment will include improvements to the exterior finishes, the parking lot, and the site’s landscaping. The developer states that this project will create a vibrant social hub and support local businesses as well as promote cultural exchange and understanding within the community. Construction is anticipated to begin later in 2025. The City offers residents the opportunity to rent a garden plot at the City’s shared site located on Old Highway 10. To reserve a plot, please complete the Garden Plot Sublease form online or print and mail it to City Hall. There is a $59.61/plot fee ($55+tax) for the cost of garden preparation. April 30th is the final day to apply for a plot before other applicants can request a second. There is a $25 fee for the rental of a second plot. Join in on the Spring fun and hunt for filled colored eggs on Saturday, April 12! The Spring Bunny will bring plenty of eggs, surprise gifts, and a hopping good time! The event will be held at Cummings Park regardless of the weather, is for ages 1-12 and the cost is $8 per child. Egg hunt start times vary by age beginning at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 1-4, 10:40 a.m. for ages 5-8, and 10:50 a.m. for ages 9-12. Pre-registration is required. Celebrate National Public Works Week in Arden Hills on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Perry Park (3700 New Brighton Road). There will be a fire engine, squad car, boat, snowplow, and more! The annual Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) meeting will also coincide with this event. Arden Hills Public Works is hosting the event with the generous assistance of the Lake Johanna Fire Department, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department, Allina Health, and the National Guard. Event will feature Relish Brothers hotdog stand and Brain Freezze ice cream! Following a comprehensive Request For Proposals (RFP) process, the City is pleased to be partnering with Walters for a 5-year contract for the collection of residential recyclable materials. This transition will be seamless for residents as you will continue to use the cart you already have and recycling collection days will remain the same (properties on the South side of I-694 are collected on Tuesdays and properties on the North side of I-694 are collected on Wednesdays). Stay tuned! You can expect to receive an informational mailer from Walters at the beginning of April that includes a 2025 holiday and recycling calendar, a recycling guide, information about their free app where you can sign up for pickup reminders, and company customer service contact information. We are excited for this new partnership and look forward to working with Walters Recycling and Refuse. This new facility will make it easier for Arden Hills residents to reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. It will be a one-stop shop for waste reduction and recycling services. The Environmental Center is centrally located at 1700 Kent Street in Roseville to increase accessibility for all Ramsey County residents. It will be open year-round, Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on county holidays. Features of the Environmental Center include: • Household hazardous waste drop off • Electronics recycling drop off • A free product reuse room • Space for Fix-It Clinics and other environmental education and activities • Household recycling drop off • Food Scraps drop off The center is part of a multi-year County initiative called Enhancing Environmental Health Services. This initiative is intended to redesign and add recycling and waste disposal services to better meet residents’ needs. The Environmental Center will be a community space. It will be a place to learn together and work toward our shared goal reducing waste in Ramsey County. The County has celebrations planned during Earth Week and residents are invited to join! The first 200 participants dropping off household hazardous waste or electronics on Tuesday, April 22 will receive free giveaways.
