Home My WebLink About10-20-94 S Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes October 20, 1994 8: 00 a.m. Army Reserve Center 1 . The meeting was called to order at 8 : 05 a.m. 2 . Present were Trygve Egge, Steve Freimuth, Dan McCallum, Arnold Lindberg, Council Liaison Beverly Aplikowski and Community Planning Coordinator Brian Fritsinger. Absent were : Mary Miller, Jerry Moehnke, Robb Carlson Jr. , Tom Goblirsch and Terry Nagle . 3 . Monthly Report Staff reviewed the monthly activities with the Committee . Specifically the 60 day extension to the preliminary development agreement with Everest was discussed. . 4 . Business Contacts Mr. Freimuth reviewed with the Committee his recent discussions with a COOP about a grocery store at Arden Plaza. He reviewed how a COOP operates and how they may have an interest in Arden Hills . Staff will follow up with a contact to United Properties to determine the current status of the availability of Arden Plaza. A contact will then be made with Mr. Freimuth to determine the most appropriate method to contact the COOP. Discussion followed about what impact the new Rainbow in Shoreview and possible niche grocery store in the Shoreview Mall would be on these efforts . Information on 1212 Red Fox may also be forwarded to COOP. 410 Economic Development Meeting Page 2 09/15/94 5 . Marketing Packet The Committee briefly discussed the questions provided by staff . An overall discussion of "What is" Arden Hills followed. The Committee will work on focusing a question for the Council to elicit further assistance in determining the answer to this question. One idea; "Arden Hills is a City with perspective" Another idea was to have a subcommittee formed to discuss this question. Somehow it may relate to the anticipated community survey. 6 . Miscellaneous Dan McCallum may be interested in serving on the Hwy 96 task force . Dan Winkel should follow up to discuss this item. 411 7 . Next Meeting The meeting is adjourned at 9 : 05 a .m. The next meeting will be held November 17, 1994 . The December meeting is scheduled for December 15, 1994 .
