HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-15-94 • Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes September 15, 1994 8 : 00 a.m. Army Reserve Center 1 . The meeting was called to order at 8 : 00 a.m. 2 . Present were Trygve Egge, Steve Freimuth, Robb Carlson Jr. , Tom Goblirsch, Terry Nagle, Council Liasion Beverly Aplikowski and Community Planning Coordinator Brian Fritsinger. Absent were : Dan McCallum, Arnold Lindberg, Mary Miller & Jerry Moehnke . 3 . The minutes from the August 18, 1994 meeting were passed unanimously. 4 . Monthly Report Staff reviewed the monthly activities with the Committee . • 5 . T.C.A.A. P. The committee was informed that the City has delivered the request for qualifications (RFQ) to a national group of planning firms . The Council had nominated the chairperson or representative from each committee to serve on the T. C.A.A. P. reutilization committee . The Economic Development Committee discussed how the reutilization committee would relate to the City Planning process . The committee discussed how much area may be available for industrial development . Staff reminded the Committee that Alliant Techsystems is the primary tenant in the area most likely to be considered for industrial development . The Committee recognized the potential limitations this would place on other development but indicated that the discussions of re-use should look beyond Alliant as a long term tenant . Particularly due to the downsizing of the federal defense budget . 411 Economic Development Meeting Page 2 09/15/94 6 . Everest Round Lake Development Staff updated the Committee as to the negotiations with Everest Development . The Committee was interested in the concept being proposed by Everest . The Committee expressed some concerns about the length of time that the negotiations with Everest have effectively tied up this property. Staff detailed the preliminary agreement that the City and Everest have entered should allow this proposal to be resolved in the near future . 7 . Marketing Packet The draft marketing packet requested by the committee was not discussed. The Committee indicated that they will begin discussions on this packet at the next meeting. 8 . Next Meeting 410 The meeting is adjourned at 9 : 10 a.m. The next meeting will be held October 20 , 1994 at 8 : 00 a.m. The next two meetings are scheduled for November 17, 1994 and December 15, 1994 .
