• August 18, 1994
8 :00 a.m.
Army Reserve Center
1 . The meeting was called to order at 8 : 00 a.m.
2 . Present were Trygve Egge, Steve Friemuth, Mary Miller,
Arnold Lindberg, Dan McCallum, Robb Carlson Jr. ,
Beverly Aplikowski and Community Planning Coordinator
Brian Fritsinger. Absent was Jerry Moehnke and Tom
Goblirsch.
3 . The Committee recommended that staff provide
information about Congressman Vento' s upcoming meeting.
4 . Carlson moved to approve the minutes from the July 21,
1994 meeting.
5 . Business Contacts
• Mr. Friemuth updated a discussion he had with Thomas
Babcock P .A. Mr. Babcock' s business has decided to
stay in Arden Hills . Mr. Babcock indicated that Arden
Hills is a bedroom community and not a business
community
Mr. McCallum talked to representatives at East Side
Beverage who expressed concern about vandalism and
theft . Otherwise the company indicated everything is
okay, but it would like additional Police patrol . Mr.
McCallum also discussed OWL Engineering who is looking
for space . Mr. Fritsinger followed up and sent
information about potential sites to OWL.
Mr. Egge reviewed discussions with Control Data and its
concerns expressed in the survey. Mr. Fritsinger
reviewed the use of TIF as an economic tool by the City
of Arden Hills . The concerns expressed by Control Data
were due to the City denying TIF assistance to a
business considering the acquisition of a parcel of
property from CDC.

Mr. Egge briefly commented about the "no" vote on the
proposed Rainbow. He also mentioned that a potential
grocery store at "Target" is a possibility.
6 . Marketing Packet
Mr . Friemuth indicated that he preferred the packet
remain simple and straight forward. This would include
demographics, land availability, business list, etc .
He felt the City is trying to develop a very select
market .
Discussion continued about the type of packet and the
information that should be included. City Staff should
prepare some sample information for the next meeting.
7 . The meeting was adjourned at 9 :05 a.m. The next
meeting will be held September 15, 1994 . The agenda
will be similar to that discussed above .
