Adjournment. • Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes 411 July 21, 1994 8 :00 am Army Reserve Center 1 . The meeting was called to order at 8 :00 a.m. 2 . Present were : Jerry Moehnke, Tom Goblirsch, Terry Nagle, Rob Carlson JR, Community Planning Coordinator Fritsinger, Planning Liaison McGraw, Finance Liaison Steele, and Councilmember Aplikowski . Absent were : Arnold Lindberg, Trygve Egge, Dan McCallum, Steve Friemuth, and Mary Miller. 3 . Minutes Moehnke moved seconded by Goblirsch to approve the June Minutes . Nagle moved seconded by Moehnke to approve the May 19, 1994 Minutes . • 4 . Monthly Report Mr. Fritsinger recapped his monthly activities for the Committee . More specifically the Committee discussed at length the future plans for T.C.A.A. P. Mr. McGraw reviewed with the Committee his recent tour of the T.C.A.A. P . site. He emphasized the importance of moving forward as soon as possible on the planning process . The Committee discussed the type and costs of a plan for T.C.A.A. P . It was agreed that the City should move forward with a study now rather than later. The Committee expressed some concerns about the cost of such a plan and recommended that the City consider methods of staging such a study. 5 . Marketing Packet The Committee briefly discussed the preparation of an Arden Hills marketing Packet . Staff indicated that this was a priority project for staff because of its Economic Development Minutes Page 2 07/21/94 110 importance to responding to inquiries . The Committee agreed that it would begin working on the marketing packet at its next meeting, and staff should bring samples of other communities ' materials . 6 . Miscellaneous Mr. Moehnke suggested that the Committee work on an agenda to promote the local businesses . This would include better promotions information or welcome wagon type of data. This should be discussed more in depth as the Committee prepares and worked on the community marketing packet . Staff will attempt to secure a more detailed break down on retail/wholesale industrial sales in Arden Hills . 7 . The meeting was adjourned at 9 :35 a.m. • CITY OF ARDENT MILLS MENCRANDUM DATE: August 11, 1994 TO: Arden Hills Economic Development Committee FROM: Brian Fritsinger, Community Planning Coordinat SUBJECT: Marketing Packets I will be bringing several examples of marketing packets used by other cities to the meeting. At the last meeting, the Committee began discussions as to how it may wish to proceed in this area. The two main options discussed were a brochure and/or folder. Other ideas the Committee may want to consider are a video tape and how relevant any prepared marketing packet can be utilized as a new resident packet. • In working through this process, the Committee may want to follow some of the Minnesota Star City procedures or consider hiring an advertising firm to assist in a brochures preparation. The key question I would like the Committee to consider before this meeting is "What is Arden Hills" or "What Story do we want to tell. " CITY OF ARDEN HILL 111 MEMORANDUM DATE: August 11, 1994 TO: Dorothy Person, City Mzninistrator FROM: Brian Fritsinger, Community ty Planning Coordinator SUBJECT: August Monthly Report Here are my activities for the past month: 1. Arden Manor - Swimming Pool I had several more meetings with the park management to resolve this issue. The pool is now open and in compliance with this portion of the SUP. APAC continues to contact staff, and I still expect a request to approach the Council from this organization. • 2. Ryder - SUP The City Council reviewed and approved this SUP at their July 25, 1994 meeting. 3. McClung 4th Addition The terms of the final development agreement were negotiated and approved by the City Council on August 8, 1994. Site grading has begun, and the other work should commence shortly. 4. Open Sales Lots/Transient Merchants I have revised the documentation to be submitted to the City Council, and I expect this to be presented at the August 29, 1994 meeting. 5. CPI - Site Plan Review The City Council approved a request to expand building D at its July 25, 1994 meeting. 6. T.C.A.A.P. I prepared an RF1 and RFP for the preparation of a master plan on the T.C.A.A.P. property. The Planning Commission received these documents and a list of potential consultants. I expect 4110 them to discuss it in more depth on September 7, 1994. MIL Monthly Report Page 2 08/11/94 . 7. Animal and Pet Ordinance The City Council reviewed the proposed changes to this ordinance at its July 21, 1994 worksession. Staff has revised the documents and expects to submit these for Council review on August 29, 1994. 8. Everest Discussions are continuing with the landowners on the acquisition of their property. I'm expecting a report from the developer next week. I will prepare a brief update for the August 29, 1994 City Council packet. No action is necessary at this time. 9. Chamber of Commerce I have continued to attend the local chapter board meetings, breakfast networking, and other activities as time allows. 10. Bethel College Temporary Building The City Council approved a four-year extension for the use of a • temporary building at Bethel College. 11. August Planning Agenda The meeting was postponed due to a lack of agenda items. 12. September Planning Agenda There are 4 items on the September agenda. A. T.C.A.A.P. B. Bethel College - Site Plan Review for parking lot expansion. C. St. Katherine Church - SUP for construction of church. D. Munson - Side yard variance at 1960 West County Road 72. 13. Recycling Report I completed the semi-annual recycling report required by Ramsey County. It appears that recycling percentages have increased again this past 6 months. 14. Miscellaneous I have vacation days scheduled for: Friday, August 26; Thursday, September 1; September 16-20. The Star City Conference is • September 21-23.
