ARDEN HILLS TASK FORCE
TO
ESTABLISH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
DECEMBER 16, 1993
PRESENT: Dan Mc Callum, Mary Miller, Beverly Aplikowski, Brian
Fritsinger, Tom Goblirsch, Jerry Moehnke, Arnold
Lindberg, Steve Friemuth. Absent were : Terry Nagel, Tom
Giguere .
1 . General Discussion
The Committee discussed the rumored foreclosure at Arden Plaza
and problems with Dennis Cavanagh and C.J. Rein. One of the
long term goals of the Committee should be to open-up some
dialogue with C.J. Rein.
Mr. Moehnke did not receive a full packet so Brian should send
him a full packet and maps .
2 . Minutes of November 18, 1993 were approved.
3 . Letter
A self addressed envelope should be attached. Brian' s name
should be added to letter as contact and fax number. The
first paragraph should be split into two or three sentences .
• A lead in discussing "because you are a valued business member
of community" . The anonymous sentence in letter should be
removed. Another letter should be drafted to send realtors
and property owners . Beverly Aplikowski and Mary Miller will
work on redrafting the letter.
4 . Survey
The initial survey should be simple with options rather than
essay questions . The Survey should include something on City
services/ordinances; i .e . : variance, parking, signage, trash,
screening, and landscaping. Another question may be framed
like, "If you could change anyone thing, what would it be?" or
"Is there any one major ordinance which is stopping you from
expanding?" . The survey should be kept at one page, two at
the most . Dan and Jerry will work together to draft the
survey.
5 . Business List
Everyone should review the pages assigned and highlight Arden
Hills businesses in yellow.
6 . Miscellaneous
The Committee revised the Mission Statement of the Economic
Development Committee . The next meeting will be January 20,
1994 at 8 : 00 a.m.
