Minutes of Special Arden Hills/Shoreview Council Meeting
Village of Arden Hills
Saturday, December 6, 1986 - 9:00 A.M.
Shoreview Village Hall
Call to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Wedell called the meeting to
order at 9:10 a.m.
Roll Call
Present: Mayor Robert Woodburn, Councilmembers Dale Hicks, Nancy Hansen
and Gary Peck
Absent: Councilmember Thomas Sather
Also Present: Shoreview Mayor Richard Wedell, Councilmembers Richard Sundberg,
. Thomas Wegleitner and Robert Weyandt
Clerk Administrators Charlotte McNiesh and Patricia Morrison,
Arden Hills, Shoreview Acting City Manager Michael Black. Fire
Chief Dan Winkel.and several firefighters.
Purpose of Meetina
The special meeting was called to discuss site selection for the South Fire
Station (No.4).
1. Shoreview Site B. Cost to bring utilities to this site is estimated at
$12.000 and to reclaim soil $130,000 - $140,000. Black will contact owner
of site.
2. Shoreview Site C. Site has sewer and water; requires legislative action
for a land trade. is on the east edge of the search area.
3. Arden Hills Site 2. McNiesh to check on cost for front half, back half,
and entire 2.5 acre site. Councils concurred that purchase was preferable
to leasing. McNiesh will check to see if property owner has soil boring
reports.
Fire Chief Dan Winkel noted that
1. We might need more than one acre.
2. If aerial ladder truck is housed at this site. .50 - 60 feet are needed.
3. Drive through provisions for fire trucks is highly desirable.
4. Fire Department would like to have input on site plan and building design.
5. Request~d a list of businesses in Arden Hills and Shoreview.

Fire Ratinas
Mayor Wedell agreed to check with MSI re effect on commercial/industrial
, insurance rates if fire rating is improved. and if City rating will be
affected.
Next Meetina
Councils concurred to meet Saturday, December 13, 9:00 a.m., at Arden Hills,
providing that additional information is available on Site B and Site 1.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
