RESOLUTION NO. 75-16
RESOLUTION RELATING TO OPEN MEETiNGS OF PUBLIC
BODIES; AMENDING MINNESOTA STATUTES 1974, SEC-
TION 471.705, SUBDIVISIONS I, 2 AND BY ADDING
SUBDIVISIONS.

WHEREAS, the City of Arden HI lis supports the Intent of the open
meeting law which Is to have the public business conducted openly
so that the public can be Informed of the decisions and actions
bel ng taken, end
WHEREAS, nevertheless there are certain matters of a confidential
nature which may not be In the public interest at a particular
time to disclose publicly, and
WHEREAS, the Attorney .Genera I has rendered an op I n I on wh tch appears
to be more restrictive than the legislature Intended.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARDEN HillS respectfully urges the Minnesota State legislature to
consider changes to the open meeting law which would provide for
amendments to the law as proposed In the draft legislation submitted
by the League of Minnesota Municipalities, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that caples of this resolution be transmitted
to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the State legls-
latura ar.d thQ Le~gwQ of MinnGsct~ Munic!D~!ftros.
