RESOLUTION OPPOSING EXPANSION OF LAKE JOHANNA
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FACILITIES AT LEX-
INGTON AND COUNTY ROAD I,
SHOREVIEW
WHEREAS, the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department
has recommended that addition of a third fire station be con-
sidered for the northern area of Shorevlew along Lexington
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Arden Hills, Shorevlew, and
North Oaks have been requested to financially support such an
addition jointly, based on the current formula established
for contracting with the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the projected costs of such an expansion In
plant, men and equipment has not been fully disclosed and
discussed; and
WHEREAS, the Immediate, Intermediate, and long term
benefits of such an expansion are not evident for the City of
Arden Hi I Is and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the addition of a third station in the City
of Shoreview, supported by the City of Arden Hills based on
the current contract formula, may cause undue financial hardship
to the City of Arden HI lis and its residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Arden Hills City
Council that the City of Arden Hills does not financially support
the acquisition of land and equipment for such an expansion and
addition at this time.
