RESOLUTION NO. 83-18
RESOLUTION OPPOSING PROPOSED RAMSEY COUNTY
HOTEL/MOTEL TAX
WHEREAS, the Arden Hills City Council has reviewed the
... proposed Bill for an Act amending Minnesota Statutes, 1978,
Section 477A.Ol, Subdivision 18, and
WHEREAS, said amendment would authorize the Board of
Ramaey County Commissioners by Ordinance to levy a tax on gross
receipts from the furnishing of hotels, motels or room services
in the County exclusive of the City of St, Paul, and
WHEREAS, aeid amendment does not apecify the use of
the funds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVE~, that the Arden Hills
City Council opposes the proposed Ramsey County Hotel/Motel tax,
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that local taxes should con-
tinue to be imposed and collected by municipalities at their
diacretion as oppoaed to that of the Board of Ramsey County
Commiaaioners, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that certified copies of this
Resolution be forwarded to Senator Frederic Knaak, Representative
Tony Bennett, the Ramsey County Board of Commissionera, and the
Ramsey County League of Local Governments,
Pasaed by the Arden Hills City Council this 14th day of March,
1983.
