RESOLUTION NO. 92-08
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING ALL CITY-OWNED BUILDINGS
AND VEHICLES SMOKE FREE EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 29, 1992
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills recognizes the importance of
providing a safe, healthy, and productive environment to those
who work or visit the city; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the 1975 Indoor Clean Air Act and the
nation-wide trend to establish smoke free public buildings, the
city has determined it to be in the best interest of staff,
residents and visitors to City-owned buildings that all city-
owned buildings and vehicles to be designated Smoke Free.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective February 29, 1992,
smoking of cigarettes, pipes, and cigars will not be permitted in
any City-owned buildings or vehicles as outlined in the
Administrative Policy regarding Smoke Free Workplace Policy
attached hereto as "Exhibit A".

ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
SMOKE FREE WORKPLACE POLICY
PURPOSE
In accordance with the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act and in
recognition of the need to provide a smoke-free environment
for city employees and visitors, Smoke Free Workplace policy
is established, effective February 29, 1992.
POLICY
section 1. Smoking of any kind; including pipes, cigars and
cigarettes, will no longer be permitted in any city-owned
building.
section 2. Smoking of any kind; including pipes, cigars and
cigarettes, will no longer be permitted in any city-owned
vehicle.
section 3. Employees who violate the Smoke Free Workplace
Policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
section 4. A visitor who violates the Smoke Free Workplace
Policy will be asked to leave the public building where the
violation took place.
section 5. Smoking is permitted by City employees and
visitors outside of the entrances to all public buildings
and on the grounds.
