RESOLUrION NO. 90-36
RESOLUrION AUIHORIZING THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
'IO JOIN AN ENVIRONMENrIIL CmES CDALITION
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills recognizes its leadership role in protecting the
envirornnent of those people living and working within the city, and;
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that there is a need for goverrunental bodies to act
quickly on many of the envirorunental problems facing them; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that local environmental initiatives often have a
more irmnediate linpact on the environment than those initiatives passed at higher
levels of government; and

WHEREAS, the City understands that there is a need by b.1siness, other
governmental bodies, and the public for uniform regulations across the state; and
WHEREAS, the City believes that one way to obtain this type of uniform regulation
is to work closely with other cities in such a way as to coordinate the
envirornnental legislation passed in these cities; and
WHEREAS, the City also believes that this type of inter-city cooperation may act
to stlinulate state envirorunental legislation dealing with the toPics address by
the cities and in a form acceptable to the cities.
NeW, TIIEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Arden Hills authorizes
the City to join an environmental cities coalition, to participate in its
decision making processes, and to share information with other group members; and
BE IT FURIHER RESOLVED, that the city Council understands that, although the
decisions of the coalition are not binding to the city, the city will actively
participate in the coalition's activities to the extent it considers appropriate.
