COUNTY OF RAMSEY CITY OF ARDEN HILLS RESOLUTION NO. 87-27 RESOLUTION REVISING SEWER UTILITY RATES EFFECTIVE JULY I, 1987 WHEREAS, City sewer utility rates have not been increased since October I, 1981, and WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has reviewed the utility rate structure and has recommended that the Arden Hills City Council increase sewer utility rates, and WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has determined that the rate increase is primarily due to the increase in Metropolitan Waste Control Commission charges, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective July 1, 1987, sewer utility rates be revised as follows: Class of User Old Rate New Rate . Per Quarter Per Quarter Residential $27 . 16 $31. 23 Senior Citizen/ $13.58 $15.62 Totally Disabled All Others $1.46/1,000 gallons $1.68/1,000 gallons Passed by the Arden Hills City Council this 8th day of June , 1987. The Finance Committee recently reviewed current water and sewer utility rates, comparing the rates charged with the costs incurred in providing you with these services. It found: (1) sewer rates have not been increased since 1981; costs to Metropolitan Waste Control Commission have increased 157. in that time;, (2) water rates have not been increased since 1984; operating costs, caused primarily by an increase in costs of water purchased from St. Paul, have increased 157. in that time also. The Council approved the following changes: Sewer Quarterly residential rate will increase to Commercial/industrial/institutional rates thousand gallons. The charge to senior citizens/totally $15.62 per quarter. $31.23 per quarter.. will increase to $1.68 per disabled persons will increase to Water ----rncrease water rates to $1.27/1,000 gallons. Increase quarterly minimum charges as follows: . The City will continue its policy of having no minimum charge for senior and disabled citizens. ************************************************************* SENIOR AND DISABLED CITIZENS Senior and totally disabled citizens receive a discount of 507. on their sewer bill, and are charged for actual water used. To qualify, the head of household must be 65 or older or totally disabled, and there must be no more than three residents in the dwelling. An affidavit must be filed with the Village Office to obtain this discount. ************************************************************* Utility Billing Schedule . Delinquency Penalty Applied for Non-Payment June 1 September 1* December 1 March 1 *In addition to the above, an 87. Certification Penalty is required to be added to delinquent arrears when certified to the County for collection with taxes. To avoid this additional penalty, payment must be received by September 30.
