CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
RESOLUTION NO. 87-14
WHEREAS, the Village Council of Arden Hills has determined that it is
appropriate for the Village to adopt a records retention schedule in order to
maintain an effective records management system; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 138.163 states:
"It is the policy of the legislature that the disposal and
preservation of public records be controlled exclusively by
Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 138 and by Laws 1971, Chapter 529,
thus no prior, special or general statute shall be construed to
authorize or prevent the disposal of public records at a time or
in a manner different than prescribed by such chapter or by Laws
1971, Chapter 529 and no general or special statute enacted
subsequent to Laws 1971, Chapter 529 unless it expressly exempts
such records from the provisions of such chapter and Laws 1971,
Chapter 529 by specific reference to this section, and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, Department of Administration, along
with the League of Cities, and a task force made up of city officials from the
State of Minnesota, have developed a standard records retention schedule for
records common to most Minnesota municipalities, which schedule has been
approved by the Minnesota Department of Administration, the Minnesota
Historical Society, the Minnesota State Auditor, and the Minnesota Attorney
General (November, 1985); and
WHEREAS, the classification of records as herein described are
included in the above mentioned Records Retention Schedule;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Arden Hills Village Council
hereby adopts the approved Records Retention Schedule developed by the State of
Minnesota, Department of Administration, along with the League of Cities, and a
task force made up of municipal officials from the State of Minnesota, as
follows:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution shall be
submitted to the Minnesota Historical Society.
Approved by the Arden Hills City Council this 23rd day of February,
1987.
